The US wants to send us 1 million Pfizer doses but can not because Thai government

The Thai government has yet to sign off on the necessary documentation to receive Pfizer donations from the United States, a meeting between a Thai politician and a US senator has revealed.

United States Senator Tammy Duckworth in a meeting with Sudarat Keyuraphan, leader of the Thai Sang Thai Party, said that the United States is ready to send another one million donated Pfizer doses to Thailand but the Thai government have yet to reply with required documentation which is causing delay,

“[We have] a million doses that are waiting to go but Thailand has not finished the paperwork,” Duckworth said.

“I told the ambassador a month ago that it needs to be completed and they said they are going to go work on it…and in my position, it is very hard for me to go to the President and the national security agency and asked for more vaccines for Thailand when there is a million waiting that can’t be sent.”

Tammy said she had originally asked for the same amount for Indonesia and since there was no delay on documentation with them, Indonesia has now received more than eight million doses.

Apart from the lack of delay in documentation, Indonesia is also receiving more donation from the US because the country is part of the COVAX initiative and Thailand is not.

The Kingdom also ordered 30 million doses from Pfizer directly and they are expected to arrive between October and December.

Tanee Sangrat, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday that the Ministry of Public Health is the agency that is dealing with the Covid vaccine donation from the US.

Anutin accuses US senator of “fake news” over Pfizer delay

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul Thursday refuted comments by US Senator Tammy Duckworth that the next batch of US Pfizer vaccine donated to Thailand is being held up by bureaucracy in Bangkok.

“From the discussion with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it has been found that the ministry has yet to receive the diplomatic document from the US government about the extra vaccine support to Thailand, so the news is not real,” Anutin said.

His comments came after Thai Sang Thai Party’s leader, Sudarat Keyuraphan, met with Duckworth in Washington DC this week to discuss the latest donation.

Duckworth told Sudarat in a conversation on the record that the US is waiting to send another 1 million doses, but the Thai government has yet to reply with the required documentation, which is causing the delay.

Thailand received the first 1.5 million donated Pfizer doses from the US at the end of July. Washington has said since August that they are ready to send another million.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said earlier Thursday that the Ministry of Public Health is the agency dealing with the Covid vaccine donation from the US.

Spokesman Tanee Sangrat also said that Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai is currently in the US for the UN General Assembly between September 20 and 29, and will be meeting with Duckworth next week when there should be more clarification.

I cant understand why those in government are unable to complete the paperwork , they must have more sons and nephews to hire and expedite the process.

It takes time to work out how you're gonna get your kickbacks from those pesky farangs with their paperwork, regulations and free stuff.

US calls meeting with Thai officials to resolve donated vaccines

The saga continues for the additional 1 million Pfizer vaccines that the US donated to Thailand that has been lost in bureaucratic red tape. The United States has now said they will organize a meeting with Thai authorities to discuss the delivery of the donated vaccines.

Previously, Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul denied claims that he had dropped the ball on receiving the vaccines and claimed the US never gave notice through proper channels. Then US Senator Tammy Duckworth was quoted as saying she told Thai authorities a month ago they need to complete the paperwork to receive the vaccines.

Now the Thai ambassador to the United States confirmed that US authorities contacted the Thai embassy in the US to arrange a meeting between the 2 countries next week to discuss the donation process. The same group had helped arrange the original 1.5 million Pfizer vaccines the United States donated nearly two months ago.

A spokesperson for the US embassy in Thailand meanwhile highlighted the complexity of the transfer. She said a number of mandatory legal and regulatory agreements must be hashed out between the giving and receiving country as well as the pharmaceutical companies involved before the vaccine delivery can proceed.

Furthermore, the pharmaceutical and medical companies involved need legal agreements and proper status with the Thai government to gain regulatory approval to handle the vaccine donation.

The embassy spokesperson said that the same process was hammered out before the previous 1.5 million doses were donated, begging the question of why there was so much bureaucratic fumbling to repeat the same process a second time.

“Next week, we hope to have a bilateral call to work through the legal, logistical, and regulatory items needed to move the doses. We look forward to welcoming the second shipment of vaccines to Thailand as soon as possible.”

Hungry lawyers on both sides of the ocean. The slower the process goes the more lawyers are required, it's the nature of the beast.

A respected US Senator: "I told the ambassador a month ago that it needs to be completed and they said they are going to go work on it".

A dishonest, incompetent, fucking idiot called Anutin: “From the discussion with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it has been found that the ministry has yet to receive the diplomatic document from the US government about the extra vaccine support to Thailand, so the news is not real".

The Thai Ambassador to the US: "US authorities contacted the Thai embassy in the US to arrange a meeting between the 2 countries next week to discuss the donation process".

A spokesperson for the US Embassy in Thailand: "the same process was hammered out before the previous 1.5 million doses were donated, begging the question of why there was so much bureaucratic fumbling to repeat the same process a second time".

    Today's quiz:

Which one of the above is a dishonest, incompetent, fucking idiot called Anutin?

Who owns the company making Astra in Thailand again? Think about the money and it all becomes clear...of course they don't want Phizer or any other, they want people to take Astra. That's where the people in charge are making their money.

They don't make money giving AZ away to Thais.

They make money selling it to their neighbours.
