Thread: Allegedly intoxicated Cambodian man seriously injured after being attacked by teenage

An allegedly intoxicated Cambodian man has sustained serious injuries after reportedly being attacked by teenagers in Banglamung last night (August 24th).

The Nongprue Police were notified of the incident at 11:00 P.M. at a migrant worker camp behind the Nongprue fire station.


Police, emergency responders, and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the injured man, Mr. Mai (no surname), 28, a Cambodian national, lying on the ground. He had sustained a severe head injury and was bleeding heavily. He was rushed to a local hospital for medical assistance.

Ms. Maneerat Janmeechai, 33, a local resident of the work camp who lives nearby told The Pattaya News, “I heard shouting and banging and I watched the incident through a window as I was afraid to go outside. I saw what appeared to be two teenagers slash Mr. Mai in the head with some sort of weapon. They left him on the ground bleeding and immediately sped away on a motorbike.”


“Mr. Mai, who is a neighbor of mine at this work camp, always drinks alcohol heavily after work every day. He also often drives his motorbike around after drinking and has had issues with other residents and locals due to this behavior. There are children in the camp and some residents were afraid his behavior could harm them.” Maneerat stated.


“Mai has previously used a knife to threaten local Thais outside the camp. We believed that those teenagers that attacked him last night might be someone who doesn’t like his behavior.” Maneerat concluded.

Banglamung police are reviewing CCTV in the area to attempt to track down the two suspects.
