    Philippines suspends Thailand travel

BANGKOK: The Philippines will suspend travel from Thailand and Malaysia, as well as tighten restrictions in the Manila area, in a bid to prevent the spread of the contagious Delta variant of the coronavirus.

A Philippines presidential spokesman said yesterday (July 23) that the travel restriction will take effect from tomorrow (25 July) and run to the end of the month.

The Philippines has previously banned travelers from eight countries, including Indonesia and India.

President Rodrigo Duterte has placed the capital region, an urban sprawl of 16 cities which is home to more than 13 million people, and four provinces under stricter coronavirus curbs until the end of July, in an effort to prevent further domestic transmission of the Delta variant.

Indoor sports and conference venues, indoor tourist attractions and gyms are not allowed to do business, while the operating capacity of indoor and al fresco dining has been cut.

In addition, children between the ages of five and 17 will not be allowed to leave their homes.

The Philippines is seriously ban-happy when it comes to countries. And they seem to ban their own people from returning from these same countries without a care in the world. Ironically alot of the countries they ban are countries who's labor and immigrant workforce is philipino. UAE, Saudi etc.

So many guys from offshore and onshore get stuck living in nasty camps full of covid because they cant return and have to wait sometimes weeks to be repatriated.

But if they are in Saudi or the UAE they have had access to free vaccines for months, and decent ones to boot, none of your chinky shit.

No, Harry, if they are not residents with working visas then they are not eligible. Dont know how many times you need to be told this before it sinks into that thick fucking noggin of yours.

    Uh huh.

    Saudi Arabia Seaman Visa

Since 2013, seafarers need work and visitor visas if they wish to work in the waters of Saudi Arabia. Foreign seafarers cannot work just on the basis of their seaman’s passport or book. Sailors are allowed into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), based on the work specified on their permits. They will need to obtain exit visas, approved by their Sponsor Company, when they leave the Kingdom at the end of their employment. These new regulations were drawn up to streamline the entry/exit process for seafarers who work in the Kingdom’s waters but do not enter the mainland.

If you’re trying to say that seaman can get vaccinated in Saudi then you’d be wrong.

So it seems offshore workers in Saudi need an iqama regardless of nationality.

Source: offshore worker currently in Saudi.

So, going back to these "offshore workers in nasty camps", at least they can get a proper vaccine....
