Thread: German man pick pocketed by alleged prostitute in Pattaya overnight

A German man told Pattaya police that a woman he believes was a prostitute has stolen his money from his pocket in Pattaya last night (July 7th).

The Pattaya City Police was notified of the incident at 11:30 P.M. in Soi 13/1 Pattaya Beach Road in Nongprue, not far from the Hops Brewhouse.


Police arrived at the scene along with Pattaya News reporters to find the German man Mr. Thomas Hatesaul, 68.


Hatesaul told Pattaya police, “While I was out walking alone to relax, a woman in a sexy dress approached me fairly aggressively. She hugged me and tried to sell me sex but I refused.”

“I walked away before I discovered that my money, about 15,000 baht inside a pocket, had disappeared.” Mr. Hatesaul explained.

Pattaya police are checking CCTV nearby to find the suspect for further legal action. Hatesaul stated he believed the suspect is an actual female and not a transgender.


Pattaya is currently under strict Covid19 restrictions seeing nearly all businesses closed overnight, leading to many areas being empty and not well lit. Pattaya police have asked people to be aware of their surroundings and safety when out in the area, especially at night.


Pattaya Police added that finding the culprit was important because the incident hurt what they called the good image of Pattaya to tourists and foreigners.

A tip I picked up from one of the boards before I ever came to Thailand is, when in situations where having your pocket picked is a possibility is to put your money in a front pocket, then to twist the pocket through 180 degrees.

Hmm...if your pockets can be twisted through 180 degrees then your money would just be safer in smaller pockets, like those in a pair of jeans.

So just don't wear clown trousers.

I like the idea of wearing a backpack on the front because not only is your money safe but no women will even go near you without an ulterior motive.

The first rule of fight club is that you never ever get involved when Thais are fighting. Just walk away and leave them to it.
