No bans on New Year celebrations

The Ministry of Interior has no policy to prohibit units under its supervision or the private sector from holding celebrations or other entertainment between December 30th and January 2nd, according to Interior Permanent Secretary Suttipong Juljarern.

He stressed, however, that organisers of celebrations or other festive activities must ensure the safety of revellers, such as by taking steps to prevent fires or brawling, which may lead to property damage or injury.

The permanent secretary has also instructed all provincial governors and relevant agencies to tighten safety measures at entertainment venues, as well as at hotels and especially in nightlife venues, to make sure that no one under age, narcotics or weapons are allowed in the premises.

Overcrowding in closed areas should also be avoided to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection or crushing, said Suttipong.

He also said that all provincial administrations have been instructed to launch campaigns urging road safety, such as no drinking and driving, speeding, no riding without a crash helmet and avoidance of the use of cell phones while driving.

All emergency responders, such as medical and fire-fighting units, will be on standby to provide help to people in distress.

The public can use the 1669 hotline for emergency medical services, 199 hotline to report a fire and 1567 for Damrongtham (citizen assistance) centres.

I'm going to hide, for all the exhortations on drink drive safe fireworks we all know how much the locals respect those after a couple of pints of Lao Khao , a handshandy and some yabba dabba don't, Thai boys are doted on and very few individuate into mature adults just children in long trousers with important badges.
The rich know they are immune from consequences , the poor have Dutch courage after a case of Chang.

The worst can happen here is a red from a semi-gruntled poster.

Fires and brawling would seem less dangerous than being in a room with a recently arrived Chinese tourist.

Any suggestion they will be tested on arrival?

    They are in Italy...

Officials in the Italian city of Milan are already testing passengers on flights from China.

On one flight, which landed at the city's Malpensa Airport on Boxing Day, 52% of passengers were found to be positive for Covid, la Repubblica reports.

Officials are yet to comment on these figures but, in a statement, Health Minister Orazio Schillaci said he had ordered mandatory Covid-19 testing for all passengers coming from China and transiting through Italy.
