I wish i knew the answer to this real problem.

On the one hand, feed and nurture what has been bred to protect us.

On the other, turn our backs on neutral protection.

    MM,

I had a soi dog/someone's pet allowed to run loose chase after me on my motorcycle damn near everyday as I was coming back from work. One day, the soi dog managed to get my pants cuff and I damn near went down, but think I might have pulled out a few teeth instead when I gunned the throttle.

This was always seen by the neighborhood afternoon drinking gang at a shop. I think it gave them a chuckle.

I parked my bike, grabbed a hammer and walked up the the drinking group and ordered a beer with a smile on my face. They saw the hammer and inquired as to what I was going to do with it. I explained to them that I was going to first bust the dog's head open if I ever saw it again and then bust the head of whoever the dog's owner was. No loud shouting or anything like that, just a quiet explanation of my intentions, with a smile on my face.

I never saw the dog again.

It might sound a bit harsh, but that's the kind of shit that soi dogs do OR the owners of dogs who are allowed to stray allow them to do. There's a bit of difference between animal abuse and when an animal is a danger to the public.

It's a sad state of affairs KW for which there is no real resolution in sight. Many Thai folk take on a Dog as a pet but have very little money to get proper shots and have it spayed or neutered. So the dog becomes a "Sort of their pet" for which they let it roam and do its thing.

The mandate in our mooban for not feeding strays has been quite effective. There are none around anymore when I ride my bike. They either moved on or passed away stopping the cycle. Some I had seen were terribly sick with skin diseases and open wounds from probably fighting.

the wife and another feed 3 dogs that have been in the same place now for over 6years,never gave any trouble, but yes 2 of them are in a terrible state yet they eat all their food every day.never mind what meds you give them they do NO GOOD.its only their hard life keeps them going plus good food.if they were to get, steriods and anti-biotics they only make them worse as then they need blood support and liver support.all in all they make them very depressed.after we lost our beloved sam to what we think was parasite disease i promised i would help those in need.i have given money but then you get those who take advantage,so we only give food or any owner who has a dog in distress we WILL help.
