Thread: 21 People Conned In Fake Vaccine Scam

A woman has filed a complaint with police against a man she claims duped her and others into buying a non-existent Sinopharm vaccine in Udon Thani.


The woman, identified only as Perm, lodged a complaint at Muang district police station yesterday.


She told investigators she and 21 friends had been lured by Weerasak Suksamdaeng to buy the Sinopharm vaccine. Perm said she had learned from a friend that Mr Suksamdaeng had secured some “leftover” quota of Sinopharm from the Federation of Thai Industries which bought the vaccine from the Chulabhorn Royal Academy.


Mr Suksamdaeng said the man was charging 1,800 baht per dose. She and others transferred a combined 36,000 baht to Mr Suksamdaeng through some friends.


After that, Perm said she and other people who bought the vaccine were invited to a group chat line called Sinopharm Vaccine which was managed by a doctor called Sithichoke.


The chat line was linked to the website of the CRA to make it look reputable. It also provided vaccination guidelines and was hooked up with another group chat line called “Alternative IT for Hospital” which purports to have more than 1,300 members.


Perm said she began to suspect fraud when jabbing appointments kept being postponed. The people who booked the vaccination in Bangkok on 26th June were told they would get the shots two days later. “Dr Sithichoke” said in the group chat line the jabs were deferred because of technical glitches.


On 28th June, some of her friends went for the inoculation in Bangkok according to their appointment.


However, they were turned away after finding out they were not among the people scheduled for vaccination that day.


The hospital where he claimed to have worked insisted no doctor by that name was employed there. “Dr Sithichoke” then left the group chat line.

^ Yes. In the worse scam people would get an injection thinking they had been vaccinated and find out only after they were ill that it was fake.

If the government were not so utterly inept and deceitful in organising their vaccination campaign these creeps would not have the opportunity to practise their fraud on what are a credulous and stupid people.

Thailand is a weird and wonderful place with many weird and not so wonderful people living here. I guess their isn't enough jail space for all the crooks.

You can get fake whiskey here if you don't pay attention where you shop, I wouldn't try getting any medicine on the "grey" market, especially when there's no way to differentiate genuine items from knock offs...

You probably won't believe me but a Thai Army officer did this already... about 3 months ago.....

Thai army medic accused of injecting troops with fake Covid-19 vaccine during UN mission

A medic for the Royal Thai Army was dismissed and his medical license revoked after injecting troops with fake Covid-19 vaccines during a United Nations peacekeeping mission in South Sudan. The “vaccine” was actually just water. The medic, who is also a lieutenant, apparently injected 273 Thai troops with the water shot and charged 607 baht, or around $20 USD, per injection.

UPDATE: Recent reports say the medic’s license has not been revoked, but the Medical Council is considering revoking his doctor’s license. The Bangkok Military Court has also issued a warrant for the medic’s arrest.
