More buses from Bangkok To Phuket

PHUKET: Buses to Phuket from Mor Chit in Bangkok have resumed in the hope of spurring more visitors to the island, with the state-operated bus transport company BorKorSor (the initials of its name in Thai) offering 10% discounts on fares.

Sanlak Panyawatthanalikit, President of the Transport Company Limited (BorKorSor), announced the resumed services on Saturday (June 19).

“The transport sector supports people and tourists who want to travel to Phuket, and are ready to give instructions to all operators regarding user convenience, including implementing public health standards and strict safety standards to build confidence for service users,” Mr Sanlak said.

There will be one new bus service daily each way, Mr Sanlak explained.

One bus will depart the Bangkok Bus Terminal at Chatuchak, also called ‘Mo Chit 2’, at 4:30pm, while a bus will depart Phuket Bus Terminal 2, located in Rassada, north of Phuket Town, also at 4:30pm.

The fares will cost B637 each way. However, the BorKorSor is offering 10% discounts on all BorKorSor-operated bus services, Mr Sanlak noted.

Mr Sanlak explained that all people using BorKorSor bus transport services to travel to Phuket are to comply with the D-M-H-T-T-A* public health measures and all other measures required by Phuket authorities.

Any person wanting to come to Phuket by bus must be vaccinated for COVID-19 or have documents proving they have tested negative for the virus within seven days before travelling.

In line with Phuket provincial regulations, all travellers must also register their travel details through gophuget.com and must have the MorChana app installed on their phone with location sharing enabled.

During their journey, travellers are to wear a face mask at all times and maintain a safe distance from other passengers and bus transport staff, and avoid contact with others, during their journey.

“If you have ever been in a risk area or had close contact with people in risk groups, please strictly use self-quarantine measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in a wide area,” Mr Sanlak added.

I remember these two birds I met in Phuket that decided to "bus" it to Bangkok to do a bit of shopping. I did warn them that flying was worth the extra expense but they wouldn't listen.

The two bedraggled bints that returned swore never ever again.

People talking all night, drunk people vomiting everywhere, fucking nightmare they said.

I must admit it has never been a mode of transport I've patronised in Thailand except for the odd hotel<->venue tourist jaunt.

I took a minivan from Phuket to BKK once. We had to stop to buy the driver some Red Bull because he was falling asleep at the wheel.

And then he claimed not to have any money to fill it up with gasahol. Definitely never again.

I’ve taken the VIP bus from Chiang Mai to Chaing Rai a few times. Four hours to where I go. Better than driving alone for me.

I took a bus from Bangkok to Phuket back when those protestors took over the airport back in 06 or 08 whenever it was.

Was horrible, but was even more horrible because I had to go straight from the bus station to the airport in a mad rush because the bastard thing broke down along the way.

Back when thailand wasn't so pussified

Back then! That’s me feeling old. I bet your bus at least had air conditioning!

Those protesters kept me from a trip to Nagaland. Never did make it there.

They almost got me fired. State Department put out a warning about traveling to thailand at that time. They let us go if we signed a waiver, but if we didn't make it back, we were terminated. So it was a mad panicked rush to get to an airport.

There is an issue driving alone?

I took the VIP bus from KKC to BKK a few years back, if I remember correctly it took 5 hrs, it was comfortable and not a bad ride. I don't remember it being expensive. Now there are very inexpensive flights from KKC to BKK not that only take 45 min. So that's a no brainer.
I like to take the train once, though I doubt it would ever happen.
A bus ride from BKK to Phuket might not be too bad.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

I rather think that the increase in buses is in anticpation of workers returning to Phuket if and when employment opportunities come about through the Phuket Sandbox scheme. Many thousands left the island for their home provinces over the last year, and in some sectors, those venues who choose to re-open will face staff shortages.

Drive a bit, stop for a coffee and a snack, etc. I'd take that over being stuck on a bus with a load of wittering locals or gobby backpackers any day.
