Fast food staff arrested for not giving police free burgers

This is something you could see the BiB doing.

All 19 workers at a fast food restaurant in Pakistan were detained after refusing to give a group of police officers free burgers last week.

Staff at the chain Johnny & Jugnu in Lahore were rounded up at 0100 (2000 GMT) on Saturday and held overnight.

"This is not the first time something like this has happened... at our restaurant," a statement by the burger chain said.

Nine police officers involved in the incident have now been suspended.

Senior provincial police official Inam Ghani announced the suspensions on
Twitter, saying: "No one is allowed to take the law into his own hands. Injustice will not be tolerated. All of them will be punished."

In a statement posted on Facebook, Johnny & Jugnu said a group of police officers had gone to the restaurant two days before the incident and asked for free burgers.

"Upon rejecting their request for free burgers, which has become a common practice for them, the police officers threatened our managers and left, only to return the next day to further harass and pressurise our teams... with baseless arguments," the statement said.

On 11 June, it said, "some police officers came to our... outlet and took our manager into custody, without giving any reason whatsoever. Then they emptied out our entire branch, taking all of our kitchen crew, including the rest of the managers".

The restaurant also said the staff were not allowed to close down the kitchen, leaving "fryers still running, customers waiting for their orders".

The workers were detained for seven hours and said the officers were "harassing them, pushing them around, all for not giving them free burgers".

Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan has previously called for a reform of the Punjab region's police force, saying local politicians had appointed "cronies" to run police stations.

no ham in any burgers, so named because they are originally from Hamburg and were brought to the US in the late 19th century . . . also known as Frikadelle, oder Hamburger. The Danes call them Frikadeller or similar - isn't that what Swedes call their version?

I always thought it quite childish of the Malaysian authorities to ban the use of hamburger until they also banned the use of Chinese New Year of the Pig advertisements . . . showing pigs. logically. Chinese make up about 22% of the population

Some of the most ridiculous rules and regs surrounding the government's over-zealous 'protection' of its flock.

Not really, a frikadell is a boiled ball of meat, a meatball is fried ball of meat. Grey vs brown color, Danish vs Swedish cooking style.

A ball? We are not talking singulars here.
Cut some of them in half and glue them on with beetroot mayonnaise.

Yes you're right, I mixed them up a bit. Danish fried meatballs = frikadeller.
Swedish fried meatballs = meatballs (köttbullar)
    Swedish boiled meatballs = friokadeller
Fekk knows what the Danes call their boiled meatballs. Helge?

    Swedish frikadeller when making soup:

And the Dutch eat frikandel, usually in broodje.

Fried in oil, I think. Slathered in mustard!

Twice in Indonesia I made the mistake of ordering hamburger at a local place and received a sliced beef 'ham' inside a bread or burger.

Hey, lom, I have a business idea for you. Start up a small furniture store . . . a simple one, very basic. Add a place to eat those köttbular . . .

    Bingo!

It's sure to be a success. Plaster the Swedish flag everywhere . . . and call it . . . Lego.

If you are going to post about these national snacks, the least you could do is post a recipe.

Having said that, the stuff in post #12 doesn't look very appealing.

    Sorry, an oversight:

Hamburger - minced beef - form into patty. Put in pan, evenly cook both sides
Frikadelle - minced beef, onions, bread pieces - form into patty. Put in pan, evenly cook both sides

    Better?

So no seasoning. No wonder scandihooligan food is so boring.

No buns to put the "burger" in. Common problem in many countries.

Dumb Paki's. If some burger flipper had tried that on with the Kings Cross cops in the (rather corrupt) 1980's, they'd have just kicked the shit out of him and charged him for resisting arrest.
