Australian national arrested allegedly breaking into Pattaya convenience store

An Australian national has been arrested after allegedly breaking into a convenience store in Pattaya early this morning (June 7th).

The Pattaya City Patrol Police was notified of the incident at 3:00 A.M. at the Tops Daily convenience Wongamat branch on Pattaya – Naklua Road. The store was closed from 11:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M. due to current Chonburi Disease Control orders closing stores overnight that are normally open 24 hours a day.

Police and The Pattaya News reporters arrived at the store to find that the front door appeared to have been forcefully broken.

Mr. Anong Sikaew, 48, a security guard from a nearby hotel told Pattaya police, “I heard some loud noises like glass shattering from the direction of the store and walked over to investigate as I had been out patrolling the nearby grounds of my hotel.”

“I saw the thief, who appeared to be a foreigner, and yelled for him to stop in English but the thief managed to break the door in completely before escaping inside the store. I called Pattaya police for assistance.”

The store manager, who wasn’t named, was also called to the scene by Pattaya Police. Police found a small portion of the ceiling inside the store was also broken, in what appeared to be an attempt by the suspect to escape the premises.

Police found the suspect inside a storage room appearing to attempt to conceal himself behind several boxes. He was named by police as Mr. Vladisavljevic Alexander, 55, Australian passport holder.

He was taken to the Pattaya City Police Station for questioning and further legal action. He had been wearing gloves when arrested and was not immediately cooperative with Pattaya Police on why it appeared he was attempting to break into a grocery store. He remains in police custody as of this afternoon, June 7th.

    I can definitely relate.

It's three in the morning and you've just run out of beer and/or cigarettes.

You appear to have arrived in the 25th hour of a store which is always open 24/7. You're seriously pissed off and desperate so you crash through the door 'by mistake'.

I doubt if he will get deported for this but then again, who knows?
A true diplomat is a person who can tell you to go to hell in such a manner that you will be asking for directions.
