Second season of Thai series Girl From Nowhere tops global charts on Netflix

The second season of Thai mystery/fantasy series Girl From Nowhere is taking Asia by storm and topping Netflix charts across the globe.

The series premiered on Netflix on May 7 and has garnered positive reviews from both critics and audiences. It is currently ranked as the Number 1 TV show in Asia on the platform and has been for the past week.

Currently, it is the number one most watched Netflix TV Show in Thailand, The Philippines and Vietnam and ranks among the Top 5 in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.

The show is also ranked 9th most-watched show on Netflix Brazil, the second-largest Netflix market in the world.

The eight part second installment of the series follows the same storyline with its predecessor.

Paced by a mature and controlled performance from Chicha “Kitty” Amatayakul, who stars as “Nanno”, a mysterious transfer student with powers that she uses to expose hypocrisy and find revenge for past misdeeds.

Inspired by true stories of various incidents where schoolgirls were assaulted or victimized in Thailand, Girl From Nowhere offers a twist to their tragic endings and reverses their destinies from victims into victors.

Each episode consists of different schools, stories, and characters, with the appearance of Nanno delivering karmic retributions.

Both seasons of Girl From Nowhere are available on Netflix.

i have watched the first episode of series 1, and although there is little depth to either the characters or the plot, watching it makes for quite an uneasy experience as lust, abuse and manipulation all inexorably morph into tragedy as the hypocrisy is exposed. its bunny boiler thai style!

it's professionally filmed, acted and produced and certainly a cut above the abysmal standards of thai tv soaps, and it's yet another chapter in the "me too" bandwagon of female empowerment and male weakness.

It's a street ahead of lots of their nonsense.

But I'd advise people not to start thinking it might actually be good.

episode 2 unfortunately is very silly and i dont think we will be watching any further episodes. it's aimed squarely at the asian teen market, but if you are into thai schoolgirl eye candy, rohypnol rape, bullying, deviousness etc. then it might be of interest.

Watched the first two episodes last night, myself. Thought the first one a very good thriller. Second one not as good but that won’t keep me from watching the rest of the series. Very Thai. Shockingly dark and morbid with the main character a high school girl!

Sounds interesting, Misskit and something different. I may check it out. Finished Shameless, now looking for something else to watch.
