Pattaya Police hunt for an alleged thief who broke into a local pharmacy

Police are hunting for an alleged thief who reportedly broke into a pharmacy in Banglamung yesterday (May 9th).

The pharmacy owner, whose name was withheld at their request and is located in the Takean Tia sub-district, has already reported the incident to the Banglamung Police.

The owner told The Pattaya News “Yesterday in the early morning hours of about 3:00 A.M., a man aged around 45-years-old riding a motorbike and wearing a helmet stopped at the pharmacy entrance.”

The thief managed to unlock the door with what appeared to be a picklock device, according to the owner and CCTV footage. He stole more than 10,000 baht and many gold amulets that were on display before speeding away.

The owner has warned other residents to be aware of the thief. Pattaya and Banglamung police are reportedly hunting for the suspect and using video evidence to track him down.

Thief surrenders to police after breaking into Pattaya pharmacy and optical shop

A former police volunteer, who has admitted to breaking into a pharmacy and optical shop in Pattaya earlier this week and stealing many items and cash, has surrendered himself to police, according to Banglamung Police officials earlier today.

Last night, (May 11th), the Banglamung Police arrested the suspect Mr. Boontham Chalermklin, 38, who was actually a former police volunteer.

Seized from him were Thai and foreign cash, amulets, two bass guitars, a projector, a music mixer, two laptops, and three mobile phones.

The Banglamung Police Chief Colonel Sakchai Suwannukun told The Pattaya News, “The suspect had surrendered himself to police after increasing public pressure and the CCTV footage of his burglaries being shared extensively to local media. The suspect had also just been released from prison and immediately started resorting to crimes once more.”

Boontham has admitted to the crimes, according to Police Chief Colonel Sakchai, and is planning to plead guilty, likely facing a return to Thai prison for a significant period of time as a re-offender. Boontham did not disclose his motive for the crimes.

Maybe he was planning an appearance on Thailand's Got Talent?
