Driver claims a million baht in cash destroyed when his car burst into flames

A million baht in cash, or about $32,000 USD, reportedly was destroyed after a sedan caught fire in Pattaya while the driver was reportedly heading to a bank yesterday afternoon (May 4th).

in South Pattaya opposite the Makro store.

Firefighters with a fire engine and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the car was heavily ablaze.

It took more than ten minutes to control the fire and the vehicle was a total loss.

The driver, Mr. Jirayus Amnuayborisut, 24, told The Pattaya News, “I was heading to the bank to make a deposit. There was black smoke coming out from the engine room and inside the cab while on my way there.”

“I tried to grab a bag full of one million baht cash and a mobile phone but it was too late. All items were destroyed.” Jirayus claimed.

The Chonburi Forensic Police are continuing their investigation to find the cause of the fire and have not independently confirmed or denied the statements made by Jirayus about losing a million baht cash in the fire. Jirayus did not comment on if the money was insured.

Their childishness is truly quite pitiful but then, a Thai male aged 24 in normal human terms has all the maturity of an 11 year old.

Indeed, a tale fishier than an anchovy's twat.
