A serial thief has been arrested in Si Racha after he has reportedly broken into more than 100 rooms over the past year. He had reportedly been affected by Covid-19, losing his job at a factory and going into debt due to gambling and as a result, decided to take up a career as a burglar.


A team from the Nongkham Police yesterday (April 21st) have arrested Mr. Sarawut ‘Golf’ Hymha, 23, from Pitsanulok after an extended campaign to capture and identify the man based on CCTV footage and tips.

Seized from him were many stolen items and properties and devices used for taking illegal drugs.


Golf reportedly admitted to police, “I have broken into more than 100 rooms in one year after I lost my job and went into debt, partially due to Covid-19. I started out using a motorbike but used the profits to purchase a pickup truck so I could carry more stolen merchandise.”


“I learned how to picklock from my friend in Pitsanulok. I used to work in a factory before I became addicted to gambling. Then, Covid-19 hit and I was out of options and decide to seriously pursue theft and burglary to survive. I was very successful, having broken into over a hundred homes and rooms in Chonburi.”


Golf is facing charges of theft by night and remains in police custody as of press time, he is reportedly planning to plead guilty to the charges in return for a reduced sentence.
