Buri Ram village locked down after a dead hospital patient found infected with COVID-

A village in the Prakhon chai district of Thailand’s northeastern province of Buri Ram was declared off-limits today, and the emergency ward of the district hospital was closed for three days, after it was discovered that a patient, who was admitted for treatment and subsequently died, was infected with COVID-19.

The 56-year old worked at a bar in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok and had returned to his village with his wife on April 8th. He developed a cough on April 13th and went to a pharmacy in the village to buy medicine, but his condition worsened and he developed breathing difficulties during the night of April 17th, prompting his wife to call an ambulance.

The patient died upon arrival in the hospital’s emergency ward. A post mortem COVID-19 test was conducted which returned a positive result.

The hospital ordered the emergency ward closed for three days and to be disinfected. It also asked patients who visited the hospital to be honest and disclose their movements to officials.

The governor later declared the village off-limits. The victim’s body was also quickly cremated, while health officials were sent to the village to conduct active screening of the victim’s family members and neighbours.

According to the provincial health office, nine new COVID-19 cases were recorded yesterday, raising total infections in the province to 47, scattered across 11 districts, with the Muang district having 27 cases.

45 are being treated in hospitals, while 2 others have recovered and been discharged.

The Songkran genie was let out of the bottle, and this is but the inevitable consequence of utter stupidity at a time when the third wave washing in from the hiso Bangkok clusters was already known.

An absolute disgrace, possibly the most avoidable, irresponsible act this government has perpetrated.

So that was the starting point of this wave, was it?

To spell it out for you, that was when the genie SA refers to was 'let out of the bottle'?

    (A: No it wasn't.)

    Helge had it right.

Do you have an intermittent affliction that frazzles your synapses and makes you talk utter bollox because you have missed the fucking point?

Look, the half-arsed measures were imposed before songkran but the act of letting songkran proceed ensured that those half-arsed measures were rendered fucking useless.

Most genuine health professionals in Bangkok, e.g the head of Siriraj Hospital, and others have all said the same fucking thing, you dozy twat, going ahead with songkran after the beginning of the third wave was fucking stupid.

Who needs to be a fucking nostradamus, it was fucking obvious to everyone with a functioning brain that we should have had a national lockdown as soon as they were detecting the exponential growth of the UK variant throughout the capital.

Honestly, just what the fuck is wrong with you feather-headed dweezil mofos?

You just don't like the fact that Thailand has generally done a very good job of minimising the dangers, considering the nature of daily life in the country.

Now you're trying to twist things so that you can vent some of your customary bile.

You fucking dozy prawn, over a million people travelled out of Bangkok after the third wave began who would not have done so if this government had enacted the same measures they did last year and we would not now be experiencing the outbreaks that have occurred throughout the country.

Songkran should have been cancelled. Period. And what fucking bile???? Since when is truth fucking bile, you hapless buffoon.

The country has hitherto avoided a catastrophe simply by quarantining itself from the world, but now they are throwing it all away by permitting the return of normality before the beginning of a national vaccination programme.

And that was a fucking avoidable fuckup as everyone knows.

The least vaccinated country in the world apart from Sudan.

Yeah, a great job, Cyril you twat.

I just knew you'd falsely conflate my comment into something about vaccines...a different story all together.

    Saw it a mile off.

Fvck but you're so predictable, you venomous, twisted old maid.

of course it is about vaccines you camel shagging retard.

vaccinated people mostly don't get seriously ill, don't die and more importantly don't need hospitals, and that's what management of this pandemic is all about. reducing symptoms and maintaining hospital space and equipment for those that need it.

sybil is a radically intersectional gulf state tefler and a part time woke, inclusive, non lactating pomosexual racially aware social justice keyboard warrior, so if he is gay he will certainly keep it well hidden.

A strange mixture of a poster. On occasion he is quite on point and witting to the issues, admittedly when he agrees with me, and then he gets all menopausal whenever one puts Thailand and the Thai under the prism of truth and mocks them for their congenital fuckwittery. Clearly, there is some instability and unresolved conflicts here which is why I posited the theory he may well be a poof.

Seeking Asylum - having been exposed as a fool and bs artist, your posts on this thread descended into school-yard homophobic mud slinging.

You sought the support of that creepy old weirdo taxexile. He can barely support his laptop these days, let alone an argument.

Now you have a braindead simpleton, northern oik and BREXITeer by the name of Joe90 on your team.

Not digging the personal attacks there, but IMHO it was a screw up not only to let people go back home, but also to give them incentives to do so in a bid to revivify the tourism sector and the economy in general.

Agreed that authorities did tone down tremendously the festivities to limit the spread but the damage was already done with that many people leaving a high risk area for their home province or place of vacation, many of them using crammed public transportation to do so...

Dramatic rises have also been registered in Malaysia over the same time period.

Pretty sure they don't celebrate Songkran.

Thailand shares land borders with three countries.

It was remarkable that they managed to keep it (largely) out for so long, but it wasn't going to last forever.

There's less excuse on Island UK. Have they even got their act together on quarantining visitors yet, a year after Thailand started doing it?

For fuck's sake, Thailand has recorded twice as many cases in the past three weeks than the whole of 2020, you dozy pillock.

The Songkran migration has spread the virus to the entire country. Period.

And, for your benefit and further education, Malaysia is muslim and observes Ramadan which the entire fucking country was preparing for in the past month.

It's a fuck up and an avoidable one at that, and there is no relief in sight until the vaccination programme gets under way but that ain't going to happen until July/August.
