Pattaya City Police Station has released a letter of clarification today, April 18th, after a police officer from Pattaya Police Station was proven to be infected with the Covid-19 Coronavirus.


Police Colonel Sompon Nakumkumpan of the Pattaya City Police Station told the press that the infected person was a traffic police officer who had tested positive yesterday at Bangkok Hospital, Pattaya. He is currently receiving treatment at the Phayathai Siracha Hospital.

Meanwhile, the police station is in the process of investigating police officers who were in close contact with the infected officer to prevent and control the spread of the virus. It was initially found that there are approximately 40 people at the station who were in close contact with the patient.


The high-risk officials are now ordered to perform a local quarantine, monitor the symptoms, and seek a Covid-19 test at local hospitals according to the measures by the Ministry of Public Health.


Disinfectant was also sprayed at the police station yesterday and this morning to potentially slow the spread of the virus before opening to welcome citizens and tourists again today, according to the Colonel.
