UPDATE: Owner passes away after being attacked in Pattaya area by his pitbull yesterday
Mr. Wisit Sanguan, 56, who had sustained serious injuries after being attacked by his own pet dog, described as a pitbull yesterday (April 15th) has been pronounced dead today by doctors at a local Pattaya hospital (April 16th).
Mrs. Wanpen Kumkong, 51, who is Mr. Wisit’s wife told The Pattaya News this morning, “My husband has been pronounced dead as a result of the attack by the dog, named Giant. The dog is now being taken care of by the Chonburi pitbull club.”
Wiset had suffered severe wounds to his throat during the attack which allegedly happened while he was sleeping. It took rescue workers nearly thirty minutes to get the dog away from the injured man. Wanpen stated that she understood doctors did their best to save her husband’s life but he tragically passed away due to a loss of blood and the severity of the wounds this morning, April 16th.
The two-year-old dog remains in the custody of the Pitbull club, who stated they will be cooperating with law enforcement officials on what caused the fatal attack. The dog had been raised by Wiset since the dog was three months old, according to Wanpen.

Surely such a thing is exterminated. In proper countries at least.
Dog mauls owner to death, what are they gonna do, find it a new home?
Christ, can you imagine the foreign members in that saying The water in Majorca doesn't taste like what it ought to.the Chonburi pitbull club
That's why I didn't ask you: no laboured cliche needed.
It's almost as dumb as 'Guns don't kill, people do', and completely disregards the fact that pit bulls can be very dangerous and should not be kept as pets.
This is partly, but only partly, because of the idiot owners they attract.
Any dog that attacks its owner, regardless of breed, has in my opinion been mistreated. Pit Bulls as a breed, yes are very stong and powerful, as are all Bull Terriers (Staffordshires, American Staffordshires, English etc). They are also playful, fun loving and make ideal family pets (many years ago in the US they were called "Nanny Dogs", such was their reputation as being child friendly). Obviously in recent years they've become synonymous with drug dealers etc as guard dogs and some have been bred for their ferocity.
However, the overwhelming majority of owners are responsible and their dogs present no problems. I've had many breeds of dogs over the years, and our 3 years old female Pit Bull is right up there with the best natured and tolerant of any dog I've had. We currently have 3 dogs (was 4 until a week or so ago) and 4 house cats, with never an issue with any of them.
A dog is a rather stupid animal that needs training for domestication but will revert to what it is genetically, a dangerous pack animal committed to a hierarchical structure based on dominance utilising aggression, and can do so spontaneously for a variety of reasons if it thinks it is facing some stress or other.
I view dogs as shit producing disease machines that bite and serve little purpose other than to indulge owners struggling with some deficiency or other.
I detest the morons who come chasing after their curs who run up barking and jumping up on strangers and say " don't worry, he wouldn't harm a fly". When it happens to me I give them short shrift and enquire if they too might be alarmed if I jumped on them snarling and barking.
Mind you, I am partial to some breeds and if pushed would get an Irish wolfhound or a little sausage dog, obviously.
Incidentally, PAG, your furnishings look quite tasteful and well chosen. I'm surprised, I took you for an unmitigated oaf but it seems you may well have some redeeming qualities although the pitbull choice remains a worry. A bit like a tattoo on the hand, sort of thing.

Do not know much about dogs, but does seem strange to me that the dog attacked him while he was sleeping.
^ dealing with sleep apnoea is a terrible thing
Even worse, you’re left handed!
I have a half pit bull, half bull mastiff mix and he will hurt a fly if not controlled.
You can never forget how powerful these dogs can be but he is great with the family and the other 3 dogs I have.
Not a dog for everyone unless you set a routine and maintain discipline.
I have noticed if he doesn't have his morning walk he gets moody so he has his morning walk.
The liver spots on his left hand are of course confirmation of his advancing age and exposure to UV but the Cartier fashion watch is much more insightful, indicating a sexual ambiguity which he no doubt expresses in some closeted fashion or other. The pitbull beast is probably an acquisition compensating for his deep rooted anxieties and self-loathing arising from incipient homosexuality and general poofterdom. Pragmatic has one too and is no doubt struggling with the same demons.
Unbelievably, even for this ridiculously silly country, they took the fucking dog to the guy's funeral so it could "apologise".
As I said before, their lunacy and crass idiocy was entertaining in the good old days when we all had great fun and no-one took governments seriously.
Now, it's just a farce, a sick farce and as flat as a long, low, dribbling, wet fart.
They used to execute animals in the US
My doughtier has two dogs, A long hair Dachshund and Pitbull ,Sar-pei mix. The tiny Dachshund Dominates the Pitbull . even though she could have it for a snack. They are both wonderful dogs.
The Pitbull is solid mussel, and has no idea how big she is . she gets sad that Coco the dachshund can sit on our lap and she cant, she looks at me with those sad eyes and I feel so sorry for her I let her. She could not be happier sitting in my lap. She would not hurt a fly in our family. I feel sorry for anyone that would try to hurt us though.
I don't know what happened in this story, it could be that the owner was perfectly good, and something extraordinary happen. or maybe , and even , unintentionally , thinking he was doing the right thing, mistreated the animal.
My only experience with Pitbulls is Raley so I cant generalize. But Raley is the most gentle dog I ever met.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
I am sorry you feel that way, and that you are having a bad time of it, and I understand some of your frustration, I often have some of that myself, But you need to put those things in proper perspective. It is a different culture , they feel connected with other living things at a different level we do, and trust me, if my conversations with my wife is any indication, the same lunacy you think about them, they think about us at times. Simply culture shock.
I have been married to my wife for close to 12 years now and coming to Thailand for over 15, trust me when I say that when you accept the fact , that it is a different culture, and that what you might think you understand is happening might not be , but something totally different is really happening, , the clouds will roll away , the sun will shine, and it will be wonderful day in the neighborhood.
Now let me go into a rant about my COE, ASQ, Non IMM visa, covid insurance process I am going through now LOL
UPDATE: New owner of pitbull that killed prior owner brings dog to apologize to ex-owner’s wife at funeral in Pattaya area
The new owner and the pitbull which mauled it’s ex-owner to death apologized to the wife of the prior owner at a funeral in Pattaya yesterday.
Mr. Wisit Sanguan, 56, who had sustained serious injuries after being attacked by his own pet dog, described as a pitbull on April 15th, had later been pronounced dead by doctors at a local Pattaya hospital on April 16th.
Yesterday, (April 21st), the new owner of the pitbull, Mr. Suksa Ketnak, and the 2-year-old pitbull went to Mr. Wisit’s funeral at the Banglamung Temple. The dog had been given to the Chonburi Pitbull Club after the prior incident who then found a new home for the dog with Suksa. Suksa has multiple other pitbulls and is, according to his own statements, experienced at dealing with dogs who had problems before or a history of aggression.
The pitbull, named ‘Giant’, was wearing a protective mouth guard for safety reasons. The new owner, Suksa, prayed and apologized to the spirit of Mr. Wisit for the dog’s behavior in accordance with Buddhist tradition. They also apologized to Wisit’s wife who reportedly accepted the apology.
‘Giant’ showed that he still loves and can remember Mr. Wisit’s wife by wagging his tail and showing signs of happiness, letting relatives pet and play with him. Mr. Wisit’s relatives stated they still care for ‘Giant and have forgiven the dog for the incident.” Suksa told local Thai media.
