Pattaya –
A lottery ticket vendor who is also legally blind fell into an open water drain on Naklua Road while he was walking and looking for customers yesterday, April 13th, 2021.
Mr. Prasit Klinhom, 62, who had sustained only very minor injuries told local news media, “I was selling lottery tickets along Naklua road. I use a long stick to find my way but I fell down into a water drain hole which its cover was left opened. I had previously walked this route many times with no problem, the issue was the drain cover had been removed and wasn’t marked with barriers.”
Ms. Chunrang Yab, a Cambodian national who was a witness, explained to the press that she shouted out to tell Mr. Prasit to beware but he didn’t hear her. She called for help to rescue him from the drain. Many local residents decided to help by purchasing lottery tickets from Mr. Prasit after his fall, which brought a smile to his face.
Pattaya law enforcement authorities who helped recover Prasit from the drain told the press they will “look into” why the drain cover was removed and not properly marked with barriers or signs.
