    Private covid vaccination, Thailand

I know this is mentioned in the main covid thread, but it seems important enough to have its own thread, as it is likely to be something that residents are interested in.

Anyway, government has approved private hospitals to purchase 10 million covid vaccine doses, their choice which one.

Seems this is going to be the main way that expat residents will get vaccinations, plus it will allow us to select the vaccination that we want.

Wil be keeping a close eye on this, and making sure that my near and dear are vaccinated with something decent, and not any old crap that the government sees fit to provide.

Lets hope this can move through fairly quickly, as man, I am near done with the covid restrictions.

Private hospitals can buy Covid vaccine of their choosing

^ Fair point. Would assume so.

My missus had a fairly cynical view on why this is allowed, and she suggests that expats are not the main intended recipients....

Not something I have ever particularly ascribed to, to be honest.

Point being all those hi-so Thais need some way of jumping the queue so they can get back to their holidaying.

Why would the Bangkok Hi-So crowd want to have a dose of the big pharma poison? Do they know something we ordinary folk do not? And who's to say any need this shit which is being touted by many (name your company of choice). A lot of them have probably paid the big bucks for the Bill Gates safe version months ago. I am sure if they can afford million $ cars, jet around the world first class and live in multi million dollar mansions $10 thousand, $50 thousand or $100 thousand it's a bother if it reduces your chance of dying to zero.

When I get home from this hitch, I’ll pay whatever for the Pfizer vaccination for me and the wife. My employer wants to give me the Chink shit for free but homie don’t play dat.

Kinda been waiting for Thailand to remove their collective heads out of their asses and allow hospitals to operate on their own.

I like the logic of the mRNA vaccines - Pfiezer and Moderna ,and soon CVnCov

but I am likely to end up with the govt supplied astra zeneca one - though as I am in the last group slated to be stabbed it might not be until next year

Our insurance states it has to be a brand that they endorse otherwise it invalidates the insurance if we get covid. So pretty much stuck with whatever work give me. Whenever that will be.

BionTech the company that developed the BionTech/Pfizer vaccine actually was working on cancer treatment with this method, before they switched to Covid vaccine, when the pandemic happened. They did not even work on vaccines at all before. Sure they will go back to that.

^ yes i know hence my throwaway comment vis I am legend. There could be game changing developments ahead.

Back to getting vaccines privately. I would have thought the private hospitals could open up rollcalls online of those wishing to get on a waiting list. Keep checking Bumrungrad and all they have is a survey to complete which i think is gauging interest but not allowing you to put your name down.

I contacted Aek Udon in Udon Thani yesterday. They only said that they cannot do anything until they get the formal government approval to offer the vaccine privately. They are not making provisional bookings. Like TC, they promise to inform me when they are ready.

They are "doing a survey" at Bumrungrad, which seems suspiciously like taking your information so they can contact you when they are ready to sell you a vaccine.

    COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement Survey

Remark - The objective of this survey is only for understanding your personal requirements, not for COVID-19 Vaccine reservation.
...and just happens to include collecting your name, email address and phone number.
