Thunderstorms, gusty winds and hail forecast for upper Thailand

The Thailand Meteorological Department said on Saturday that a moderate high-pressure system extends to lower China and upper Vietnam, and is expected to reach the Northeast of Thailand and the South China Sea by Saturday.

Meanwhile, the southerly and southeasterly winds bring moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand to the lower North, the Northeast, the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the East regions.

In upper Thailand, hot to very hot weather is forecast together with summer storm, thunderstorm, lightning, gusty winds and hail in some areas.

Isolated heavy rains are also possible. People should keep off outdoor places, big trees, unsecured buildings and billboards.
Farmers should beware of damage to crop.

The department also said that an active low-pressure cell covers the Andaman Sea, bringing isolated heavy rains to the South.Waves 2-3 metres high are expected in the Andaman Sea and above three metres during thundershowers.

All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats should stay ashore, the department said.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours:

North: Hot day with haze, thunderstorm and gusty winds in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 20-29 degrees Celsius, highs of 36-39°C.

Northeast: Hot day with haze, thunderstorm and gusty winds in 60 per cent of the areas, hail possible in some areas; temperature lows of 22-26°C, highs of 35-38°C.

Central: Hot to very hot day with haze, thunderstorm and gusty winds in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-26°C, highs of 37-40°C.

East: Hot day with haze, thunderstorm and gusty winds in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-27°C, highs of 33-37°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

South (east coast): Thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 23-26°C, highs of 32-35°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

South (west coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 23-25°C, highs of 32-34°C; waves 2-3 metres high and over three metres during thundershowers.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Hot day with haze and isolated rain; temperature lows of 26-27°C, highs of 34-39°C.
Thunderstorms, gusty winds and hail forecast for upper Thailand

A big thunderstorm swept through the village yesterday (Friday). Several villagers posted videos on their facebook accounts. A big mango tree was uprooted and landed on one of the schoolteachers pickups, One of the houses lost its roof and the roads are littered with bits and pieces of homes and trees.

So far we haven't managed to get in touch with the family, but not too surprised as the power went down as well.

Was woke up last night to a nice rain. Still raining lightly now. Temp 28c. Rain cleaned off the driveway and dust and ash dust off the roofs. Perfect timing.

Of course in 2 or 3 days it will be 42c again and wicked swamp ass weather...but life as it is here.

Good job you have a method of artificially creating enough warm air to dry your clothes, eh?

I know. Thank God. Imagine trying to dry your clothes in the rain and wind.

If only you had, say, a large covered area open to the wind but protected from the rain on your ground floor.

Yeah, so all the wind could get whipped around underneath that cover with the dirt and debris and then it all stick to those freshly washed wet clothes.

Now in fairness, if all I wore were shorts and beer T shirts I suppose I could probably live with hanging my clothes to dry and just wait. But...well...I don't.

Yeah we all went on a tangent that's for sure. Back to weather.

Still on and off sprinkles. As Norts said Nice Break. 40c plus day in and out can wear you out. Today was big yard tree/Shrub trim and property clean up. Perfect weather and a light rain while you work keeps it nice. First day in weeks that my wife and FIL haven't whinged about how hot it is. I always sort of laugh, lived here their entire life and yet moan about how hot it is every day. The air quality should clean up nicely as the rain and wind will push it away.

Back on track. The Thai meteorological department got this one right. Don Muang getting hammered now. Heavy winds, and the strong rain they predicted.

We had a good storm passed over us in the Gulf of Thailand this morning. Lightning hit the rig so lucky we are non-operational (rigging down for rig move) as it fucked the top drive.

Huge storm here. Blew some people's roofs off. Power out. Heavy Heavy rain with lightning and window rattling Thunder. FiL panicked. I sent him to his room to calm down.

    Rogue storms of Thailand.

Crazy storms here. They are fun to watch. Amazing to see no lights on and no dogs barking.

He most likely went through some shit in those storms before and forgets that he has a safe space to chill in.

I don't mind being temporarily stranded in a tinned roof food stall during a tropical downpour.

I love it, as long as they have a cold one. Pull the hairdryer over, get a beer and watch the Thais get soaked.

    Quite convenient too.

If you're in need of an X-Ray and lightning really does light you up like a Tom & Jerry cartoon.

Weather blew out around 3am. Was a good one. Got enough rain where I had to drain my pool down about 2 to 3 inches. Saw some neighbors re installing their fiberglass roof sections that left as frisbees. As Ron White the comedian said, "its not that the wind is a blowin.....It's what the wind is a blowin." In my years and travel here I have witnessed some roof sections zip along fast enough to likely cut someone in half or do some serious bodily damage.

as of 1:30pm the wind is picking up again as a light breeze. I am expecting a repeat as the cycle has been around 2pm the clouds start forming. By 4 to 5pm the wind is picking up and after that its wait for the big wind and rain. I guess summer is over and rainy season is early this year. Better tune up lawnmower and sharpen the blade

We had to stop at the bar on the 13th hole for 2 hours yesterday. The rain went round us but the lightning was on good form. Barely remember driving back to town, ended up at a house party, lost my truck, my mates dog followed me around town all night looking for it and fighting with all the soi dogs along the way. I finally found the truck and called my mate to come get his dog and the [at][at][at][at]'s like - my dog's here with me, its not my dog. Bonny dog tho.
