Chinese vaccine being distributed to all provinces this month

The government has confirmed that all provinces will receive the Chinese Sinovac jab this month – some in larger quantities than others. Kiattiphum Wongrajit from the Public Health Ministry says 800,000 doses will be distributed across the country from today. 22 provinces are being prioritised, based on their status as either high-risk areas, border provinces, or tourist destinations. 6 high-risk provinces will receive 350,000 doses, 8 tourist areas will get 240,000, while 8 border provinces will receive 50,000 doses.

The 6 high-risk provinces are the central provinces of Samut Sakhon, Nonthaburi, Bangkok, Pathum Thani, and Samut Prakan, as well as the northern province of Tak (Mae Sot). The 8 tourist destinations are Chon Buri, Rayong, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Krabi, Phang Nga, Phuket, and Surat Thani (Koh Samui). The 8 border provinces are Songkhla, Sa Kaeo, Chiang Rai, Mukdahan, Narathiwat, Ranong, Nong Khai, and Chanthaburi.

Kiattiphum says the rest of the country will receive 160,000. Provinces with fewer than a million people will get 800 doses, those with a population of between 1 and 1.5 million will get 1,000 doses, while those larger than that will receive 1,200 doses. Priority will be given to medical staff and frontline workers.

Meanwhile, the Bangkok Post reports that 3 staff members at immigration detention centres have tested positive for the virus, after the centres reported a cluster of 395 infections. 24 new cases were reported yesterday, 11 in Samut Sakhon, 10 in Bangkok, and 3 in Samut Prakan. The Bangkok Post reports that 1 of the infections in Samut Prakan is in a 28 year old woman who works in the kitchen of a quarantine facility.

Apisamai Srirangson from the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration says the woman did not wear gloves or wash her hands while working. 5 people have had close contact with her, including a colleague who later tested positive and spread Covid-19 to her baby and nanny.

I think they mean police and probably local pooh yai.

So, despite the production of global myriad vaccines and the offer of supply from other states, Thailand has so far failed to procure any supplies for its population of 65 millions other than this nugatory amount received as a gift from the Chinese well over two months ago.

Once the Burmese vector works its way into the towns here the consequences of this dilatoriness will be grave indeed.

Google is your friend, you idiot.

Anyway, the Sinovac is probably much safer than the MRNa vaccines given it isn't live and is likely to be more reliable and easier to distribute given storage is in normal domestic fridge ranges.

In common with all the vaccines, it seems 100% effective in preventing hospitalisation and death but in terms of a prophylactic efficacy it is around 55-85% depending on whose study you rely. Unlike the Oxford AZ vaccine, it doesn't seem to provoke fatal blood clotting,

I'd have no problem in getting it but then, I'm not a ditch digging lumpen moron looking at life through the prism of ignorance, prejudice and petty bigotry.

And what would have been that Plan A, as you so quaintly put it?

I continue to live well in feckless indolence, in agreeable circumstances many, certainly from your lower end, would consider to be somewhat privileged i.e in a secure upscale resort located in the front rank of development, cloistered within spacious, well tnded gardens with an infinity pool, having direct access to a clean, well tended beach in an exclusive bay to the north of Pattaya fringed by swaying palms, and do so within solvency and in normal times to a manner that permits me to travel whenever the whim takes me and my wife.

Nothing has gone wrong Prag, the country remains as it has been for over two decades but the thing is I have had a surfeit of the Thai and now wish to alter the trajectory of my later life that excludes proximity to fucking idiots, which of course includes the lower end British.

I hope to capitalise our Pattaya asset which will free up more possibilities but if not then one will re-locate back to Bangers where one can be assured of encountering a better class of idiot. So, if you mean our Plan B is to rent a central Bkk flat and retain our beachside weekend retreat, then yes, it has all gone 'tits up' as you put it. If I were to find myself in my wife's property amid the bucolic charms of provincial chickenheadom, as you seem to have done, then it most certainly would be a cause for some profound regret.

You really should get out of that jungle bothy more often, old boy.

not putting all your eggs in one basket, ensuring you have options you can exercise at will...at a wild guess.

1000 doses for 1.3 million folks here in Roi Et. Hell that will cover about 10% of the "front line" workers. Reckon at this rate the family will get a jab in 3 or 4 years.

Beijing - The CoronaVac vaccine from the Chinese manufacturer Sinovac achieved a protective effect of only around 50% in a phase 3 study. According to the information in a press release, however, serious illnesses were prevented 100%. A publication is still pending.

    *My wife and I.

In all seriousness though. I would personally try to swerve the Chinese vaccine if possible because of my confirmation bias on distancing myself from most products that have 'Made in China' stamped on them. This is due to their manufacturing standards being synonymous with crap.

Even Apple don't have the balls to stamp Made in China on the back of their products and go for ' Designed by Apple in California, Assembled in China' to please people like me.

    This is just my opinion...

So much for the Phuket sandbox:

"I pledge to bring 950,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses to Phuket and inoculate 70% of the local population by June. If we cannot reach this target, the tourism sandbox will not occur," Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the tourism and sports minister, told more than 300 hotel operators at a meeting last week.
That June deadline makes it a race against time as the province has now only booked 100,000 doses.
    Hoping for a miracle

Bombastic posturing rooted in vacuous rhetoric amounting to little more than hubris seems to be a leitmotif for our times. Of course, living in Thailand one is accustomed to such nonsense but it is interesting to note that in the past decade both the US and Britain have been infected with this malaise as evidenced by the ridiculous Trump administration and the equally preposterous Brexit debacle. At least the Thai can argue that their people are poorly informed and ill-educated and therefore fair game for charlatans exploiting their credulity but what is the excuse for the English and Septics?

    Stupidity, clearly.

It has become the driving force now it seems but whereas the yanks are back on the mend, the stupid English have another three years of perhaps the worst government in modern political history.
