Thread: Thai Meteorology Department warns of significant summer storms over the next two days

The Thai Meteorology Department (TMD) has warned of significant summer storms over the two days, March 21st and 22nd, in much of the Central, Eastern, and Northern parts of the country, including Bangkok and Pattaya.


The storms are due to a high-pressure system and cold air coming from China which will extend to Thailand and the South China Sea.


The TMD has warned these storms could see intense rain, hail, wind, and potential flooding, leading many local jurisdictions and cities, including Pattaya, to prepare for the potential storms over the past day.

Areas likely to see storms on March 21st are:


Northern region: Nan, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Phichit, and Phetchabun provinces’


Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Kalasin, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Ubon Ratchathani, Si Saket, Surin, Buriram, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen and Maha Sarakham.


Central region: Lopburi and Saraburi provinces


Eastern region: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.



Areas likely to see storms on March 22nd are:


North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Tak, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Phichit, Kamphaeng Chere, and Phetchabun.


Northeast: Loei, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Buriram provinces


Central region: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Lopburi, Saraburi, Singburi, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Suphanburi, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, and Nakhon Pathom, including Bangkok and its vicinity.


Eastern region: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.


South: Phetchaburi Prachuap Khiri Khan and Chumphon
