Having a license or insurance only matters at roadside stops. Cameras obviously can't determine if you have a license or insurance. However as a foreigner you better have both. You get caught or in an accident I can almost guarantee it will cost you a lot more.

In general here, fines are not a deterrent and there are no real consequences if you do not pay them. I know a Thai quality manager that gets a few camera tickets every month or so and he tosses them in the trash.

I know for a fact that the non payment of fines will affect your ability to reregister your car as such records are looked at during the process of registration.

If there are unpaid fines associated with the vehicle registration number it will be exposed.

Not a lot of people re-register their cars, but I suppose you mean when selling the vehicle to somebody else.

You have to do it every year. Mine just had to have a check up to get the renewal as it turned 6 years old.

It is my understanding LT it all depends on what province you got a camera ticket. Outside BKK and probably CB most are not linked to a main data base system that it can be confirmed. I have gotten a few over the years somewhere between Nakhon Sawan and Tak and my wife just tossed them and I have never been asked when registering my truck.

In the end. They aren't a lot of money. I have no issue paying

It's definitely a thing in Chonburi as 2 work colleagues found out late last year when trying to renew their road tax.... was a fuck around to pay the fines and get the matter cleared.

FWIW vehicles have Chonburi plates and fines are from the 7 motorway from a camera in Chonburi.

^ That is what I meant. When you pay your annual road tax if unpaid traffic fines appear you have a problem.

You have to renew your road tax each year, ao, which is what you're probably thinking of. There's no need to re-register your vehicle.
