Police are to question a man who hired a young woman to serve drinks and entertain guests at his Bangkok home earlier this week after she died the following day from respiratory and blood system failure.


The move comes after Metropolitan Police Bureau, deputy chief Pol Maj Gen Peerapong Wongsaman yesterday met investigators to check on progress in the case.


Atchariya Ruangrattanapong, chairman of the Crime Victims Assistance Club, earlier called for a police probe into the mysterious death of Whitchayaporn “Wa” Visessombut, 33, who died at Paolo Hospital Kaset in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district after being hired to serve drinks at the homeowner’s residence.


Pol Col Prasopchok Iemphinit, head of Phahon Yothin police station, said after the meeting that the woman’s mother had told police that her daughter died on Tuesday morning soon after being admitted to the hospital unconscious around 6.30 am.


Doctors said she had died from respiratory and blood system failure. The woman had worked as an entertainer before being approached by a modelling agent identified only as Ms Su to be a hostess at a party held by a Mr Keng at his house on Monday night, said Pol Col Iemphinit.


Her relatives had turned to Mr Ruangrattanapong for help regarding the case, Pol Col Iemphinit said.


A post-mortem examination was to be carried out at Police General Hospital to determine whether there was any drugs or alcohol in her system. Initial test results indicated she did not die of natural causes because she had no diseases, Pol Col Iemphinit said.


Police will call Mr Keng and other people at the house on Monday night for questioning.


Investigators learnt there were four women at the house that night. The case would become clearer in 1-2 days, Pol Col Iemphinit said.


Witchayaporn never used narcotics, just worked as a product presenter and never sold sex, Mr Ruangrattanapong quoted the dead woman’s younger sister as saying.


A source said Mr Keng had contacted modelling agent Su to find a young woman to be a hostess. Ms Su contacted Witchayaporn for the job at his Phahon Yothin home for 7,500 baht.


The job started at 11 pm on Monday, but by 6.30 am the next day, two men had driven Witchayaporn to the hospital. Shortly after, Mr Keng turned up to pay the medical bill and claimed Witchayaporn had taken ecstasy. The woman died about 8.45 am the same morning.

I'm sure they were swift enough to stop the perpetrators hiding any evidence of illict drug taking.

I remember reading one in the Bangkok post. I think she was a Pretty or whatever they're called and got drugged and killed.

no. It was a Bangkok "pretty" (as they are called). Went looking, her name was Thitim Noraphanpiphat.

Going back to the OP, what price the tox screen will say she died of drugs; they'll ask the "revellers" where she got it from, and they will claim she must have bought it with her?

Will the Thai equivalent of Inspector Clouseau get to the bottom of this mystery or will the criminal turn him/herself in first???

The Department of Health Services Support will file charges against a private hospital where a product presenter was brought in unconscious, after attendng a party, and died soon after.

The hospital, in Chatuchak area, will be charged with failing to properly diagnose and treat the young woman, and falsely billing her for a meal she never received, department director general Tharet Karatnairawiwong said on Friday.

The move follows an inquiry into a complaint filed by Atchariya Ruangrattanapong, chairman of the Crime Victims Assistance Club, and the dead woman's mother.

Mr Tharet said the complaint was found to have grounds. He did not name the hospital

Whitchayaporn "Wawa" Vissesombat, died at Paolo Hospital Kaset in Chatuchak district on the morning of Feb 23.

She had been hired to serve drinks at a Bangkok residence the night before.

She had been brought unconscious to the hospital. She was later pronounced dead of respiratory failure. Relatives had turned to Mr Atchariya for help over her death.

The complaint accused the hospital of failing to properly diagnose her condition and delaying treatment, and fraudulently charging her for a meal.

Dr Tharet said the department's legal section had been ordered to take action against the hospital on two counts under Section 36 of the Sanatorium Act - failing to properly triage the patient when she was brought in, resulting in a delay in receiving treatment.

The offence carries a maxmum penalty of two years in prison and/or fine of 40,000 baht.

The probe found the hospital had also violated Section 73 of the same law for presenting a false bill for 400 baht for a meal she did not receive. It carries the same maximum penalty.

Mr Atchariya earlier quoted the dead woman’s younger sister as saying Witchayaporn never used drugs and never sold sex. She worked only as a product presenter, commonly referred to as a "pretty".

On Feb 26, police investigating her death raided a house in Chatuchak district of Bangkok. The house was empty.
