Hunter kills man he thought was civet

THAILAND: A man was shot dead in a forest in Khon Kaen last night (Jan 25) by a hunter who said he thought it was a civet, Mancha Khiri district police said.

Pol Capt Viroj Kowinthasut, a duty officer, said the shooting was reported to the police about 1:30am today by members of the Kham Khaen tambon administration organisation rescue unit.

The dead man was identified as Boonyuen Saengkurang, 27, from Ban Kham Noy village.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Mr Boonyuen lying dead face down. He was shot three times – once in each shoulder and once in the left chest. Four methamphetamine pills, a lighter and an amount of tobacco were found in his pockets.

The rescuers told police they received a telephone call from an unidentified man who said that while hunting in the forest he shot a man dead after mistaking him for a civet.

The man told them he would not flee and would wait for police at his house.

Pol Col Yuthana Ngamchad, the district police chief, said the man would be brought in for questioning and legal action.

    He was not named.

It may be possible to mistake a man for a small civet for one shot... at a pinch.

But how on earth are you still mistaken for two more shots?

I had to Google 'Civet" and there is so much wrong with this story.
First , if the man shot did indeed resemble a Civet, the man who shot him did him a favor,
Second it seems that the Hunter mistook the man for a civet three times , since he shot him three times. so not only do they need to check the hunters eyesight , but his hearing also, because I am sure the "Civet" must have had some choice words to say after shot the first time.
Third after googling and discovering that the Civet was not an American car from the seventies, I discovered that the Civet is a protected animal in Thailand and I am pretty sure such protection extends to being shot and killed.
Also I think Humans are a protected species though not as much a Cevets.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

What, you reckon people generally respond with something like 'Ouch! You Bastard!' after being shot?

I had something more severe in mind, perhaps something suggesting an unhealthy sexual relationship between the hunter and his mother, but yes something along these lines , increasing in intensity with every subsequent shot.
Or come to think of it , The first shot was an accident, but after the comment about the hunters mother.............

I am surprised the BiB aren't taking the opportunity to claim the smashing of another drug ring.

Civet cats stink. Maybe the stench of an unwashed druggie caused the error, Your Honour.
