Alleged assailant and victim injured in violent knife attack at department store

Two male customers were delivered to a nearby hospital after reportedly having a quarrel and starting to stab one another with knives at a department store in the Bangkapi area of Bangkok yesterday, January 24th.

The suspect, Ramin Nakharuthai, was seen holding a knife while the victim, Supachai Khae-U, was attacked on his right ribs as an undercover police officer, Police Lance Corporal Supanupong Khon Sue, who was visiting a bank at the mall, was alerted of the incident.

The policeman then rushed to resolve the situation and attempted to negotiate with the alleged attacker to disarm his weapon before a group of department store security guards could approach and took both the suspect and the victim for medical treatment at the hospital.

Police Colonel Rungsakulboon Krapua, Assistant Chief of Lat Phrao Police Station, revealed that, according to an initial investigation, assailant Ramin previously had some personal problems with Supachai before deciding to follow the victim to the department store with a knife, attempting to attack him in the area.

“Fortunately, the policeman happened to be nearby the scene and able to calm the situation down. However, the police are in the process of investigating again thoroughly before taking further legal action,” he stated.

Do all off-duty police carry their weapons?
