Covid Has Killed The Tahitian Queen, The Longest Running Bar In Pattaya

    Disaster!

The Tahitian Queen, the longest-running bar in Pattaya, has closed after the owners walked away this week following months of financial difficulties keeping the business afloat due to the lack of tourism in the city.
TQ opened on Beach Road back in 1978 and yes, its heyday was a long time ago but it had retained a following as it was open throughout the day and always doing a decent Happy Hour.
The Rock n’ Roll bar was most popular with long-timers. If you’ve never been there think of it as Pattaya’s version of Sexy Night in Nana Plaza but bigger and some would say arguably better. Similar crowd, in some ways.
After 42 years serving Sin City, Covid has killed The Tahitian Queen. R.I.P.

They should have kept it on the down low and tried to sell the name. Or just stop doing business and revive it later. They own the building id imagine

I know its all leases and bullshit. But I was guessing, because this place was so old, that maybe somehow they owned the lot through a grandfather clause.

If it was possible to have less than no clue, he'd have it.

I was just guessing. Since you are an expert, just tell me that there is no possible way, a 0% chance- that a bar that opened in 1978, could not effectively own the title in any way. Or be grandfathered in somehow.

looks like all the cvnts are online

I believe the story said the bar is closing. Doesn't mean the name is now defunct. That being siad it is 40-something years after the first burst of enthusuasm.

What is the status of TQ2 Is that still around?

Where will the Jesters call home or have they already gone home.

Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?

The story is the bar is shut for Covid just like every other bar in town, but they'll reopen when they can. That's their current plan.

That's going back a while now, it last traded as TQ2 probably 10 years ago but was never the same after Steve passed away. Been opened and closed under probably 4 or 5 different owners since then.

^^The amount of businesses currently for sale at make an offer, any offer prices is just ridiculous. Obviously these are businesses that rely on foreign visitors, I suppose if you had deep pockets and a lot of patience you could be picking up a bargain right now.

One of my sources said the permanent closure is FAKE news.

It says "permanently closed' in red when you Google the name

Not saying you are wrong but it's evidence to the contrary

I have been there many times mainly to meet out of town friends who had never been there and who wanted to check out the TQ mystique.

To be fair it was no more then an overcrowded fire trap with over priced drinks, mainly middle aged rural hookers in bikinis dancing badly to mainly rock and roll music and sometimes you had to wait 20 minutes to do a piss.

I wouldn't be disappointed if all the Go-Go bars closed down and Pattaya City was cleaned up.
