YALA (NNT) - The flood disaster in the southern region has forced rail services on the southern line to be modified, with some trains and station stops cancelled due to track obstructions and damage. Passengers who no longer wish to travel are allowed to ask for a full refund on their unused tickets.

Many passengers this morning gathered at Yala Railway Station to ask for ticket refunds, as most rail services from Yala station can only reach Phattalung due to the flooding.

Railway official says it is unlikely that any long-haul services will resume today, and asked passengers to keep themselves updated on the latest developments. Ticket holders can also ask for a full refund at the train station.

Train services on the southern line are now heavily disrupted as a result of track damage and obstructions, notably a landslide in Nakhon Si Thammarat which cut off a section of track between Ron Phibun and Chong Khao station, and floodwater over the railway in Thung Song.

Yala province is now receiving periodic rain, but with no flooding reported. The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand has announced it is pausing water discharges from dams in Yala from today until 4th December, to minimize flooding in rainy areas. Villagers in Yaha district are advised to be on alert for possible flash floods due to increasing water levels in all water ways.

The Meteorological Department has forecast that the low pressure system causing heavy rains in the southern region will move away from land and into the Andaman Sea today. Provinces in the southern region will however continue to see heavy rainfalls.

A red alert maximum level warning of flooding has been announced in Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phang Nga, and Krabi, followed by a yellow alert heavy rain warning for Phattalung, Trang, Satun, Songkhla, Yala, and Narathiwat.

These 10 provinces will continue to see persistent rainfall, which could lead to flash floods. The precipitation n is expected to start decreasing from tomorrow.
