The point is, Russians, and certainly those from the demographic that fetch up here in Thailand, are beyond reason and once they form an opinion, usually from hopelessly unreliable sources, they remain entrenched until death or the offer of money. They are quite simply immune to any logic other than their own. There is a reason why that benighted country has had no functioning democracy in its entire existence.
