Hungarian Foreign Minister Tests Positive on Arrival in Bangkok

    Fingers crossed...

The Hungarian Foreign and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving in Bangkok on Tuesday and returned home by private plane on Wednesday.

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnveerakul said on Wednesday that Mr Szijjarto was being treated in isolation at ฺBamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute.

Two aircraft had been sent by the Hungarian government to take him and his accompanying delegation back to Budapest and departed Wednesday evening.

Mr Szijjarto arrived in Bangkok on Tuesday for a two-day visit as a guest of the Foreign Ministry. The delegation arrived at 6.30 pm. All were tested for the coronavirus at 9 pm.

The tests, conducted at two labs, confirmed the minister was infected with the virus, although he showed no symptoms. The 12 officials accompanying him were negative, Mr Charnveerakul said.

The minister would return to Hungary on one plane, and his delegation on the other.

Mr Szijjart’s schedule had included a call on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House on Wednesday. All activities were cancelled after he was found to be infected.

Gen Chan-o-cha said the government would treat him until he left the kingdom.

Mr Szijjarto flew into Phnom Penh Tuesday for a one-day official visit to sign agreements on civil aviation, agriculture and water management, as well as reopening an embassy after a 25-year hiatus.

During his Cambodia visit, Szijjarto was pictured with Hun Sen at a meeting where neither appeared to be socially distancing or wearing a mask.

He also met his Cambodian counterpart and shook hands with a coterie of other ministers.

All of those people would now be tested and quarantined, according to Phnom Penh’s Foreign Ministry.

Hun Sen announced on his official Facebook page Wednesday night that he was in the clear.

“I and my wife, my 18 bodyguards, and drivers have tested negative, but doctors require me to be in quarantine for 14 days,” he said, adding that he will continue his duties as normal.

“I still can exercise and play golf inside my home compound, but I won’t let others come close.”

^Too late to protect himself by a vaccine.

However, his colleagues are properly foreseeing, despite EU dismay:

China Vaccine to be tested in Hungary
    2020.11.06

Hungary could receive coronavirus vaccine samples from a Chinese manufacturer for testing, a state secretary of the foreign ministry said on Thursday.

Tamás Menczer said in a video published on Facebook that Hungary was “close” to getting the vaccine in view of negotiations led by Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.

“This would be a great step because Hungarian experts could be testing a possible coronavirus vaccine,” he said, adding that it could put Hungary in the forefront of European coronavirus research.

Negotiations are under way with three Chinese, a Russian, and an Israeli producer, Menczer said.

“One thing is for certain: if the vaccine is developed in the East first, neither the lobbyists in Brussels nor those of international pharmaceuticals will prevent us from importing the vaccine,” Menczer insisted.

No Sputnik V for you! EU Insists Only “Approved” Covid Vaccines Allowed After Orban Says Hungary is in Talks With Russia & China

    November 1, 2020
October 31, 2020.- EU member states will be allowed to use only official EU-approved Covid-19 vaccines, Brussels said in response to remarks by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban that Budapest was negotiating for shots with Russia and China.

“There is no question that any vaccine that is, or could be, made available on the territory of the European Union would have to comply both with the quality standards that are expected for these types of products in the EU and follow the approval procedures” currently in effect, European Commission spokesman Eric Mamer said at a press conference on Friday, asked about Orban’s comments.

While not calling out Orban by name, Mamer’s comments came after Hungarian PM said Budapest was talking to Beijing and Moscow and hoping to have two or three different vaccines by early next year.

The first shipment of vaccines should arrive in December or January, and Hungary will be able to “declare victory over the pandemic” by next spring, Orban said on Friday in a radio interview.

It appears that Brussels will not allow Hungary to do so, however, as the bloc has signed agreements with AstraZeneca, Sanofi-GSK, and Johnson and Johnson for “safe and effective vaccines” against the coronavirus, once they complete the clinical trials.

    So, the fascist has C-19?

Is that where you're from, Klondyke? Nah. Hungarians, generally, are quite ok.

So, as the only one on TD to keep it a secret where you're from . . . share with us. I'm sure it will be a brilliant place. There must be an East European nirvana among the pig slops and inbreeding.

Both would be vile, wouldn't they? I doubt there would be any paprika in the goulash, or the gulag.

I did not know that you are an expert on Szegedin, obviously your childhood favorite dish prepared by your grandmother? Or do you cook it by yourself while on mission?

And I apologize for my harsh and disrespectful tone, it surely had to badly touch you who is known for your classy manners...

I saw his post and was awaiting your reply! Klongdick really is a dick.

Incidentally, one of my relatives was Hungarian and cooked a mean goulash most weeks up until his dying day. He also lived in fear of the Russians until his dying day too.

Klondyke is another one of these retards who's never been to Thailand and assumes that the only food you can get in restaurants is Thai.

With good reason - if the Russians were more evolved they'd be world leaders in many things. As it is they are still the poor man of Europe with massive infrastructure problems and immense alcoholism to forget their miserable existence

He once posted a picture of young kids in a swimming pool in a tropical setting . . . which really can't be his as he boasted about going to west-end shows in the 80s

All in all, he's just a lying cvnt . . . who probably hasn't been to Thailand . . . and believes that Thai doctors don't wear lab coats
