Cabinet approves one-month extension of emergency decree

BANGKOK (NNT) - A meeting of cabinet ministers has approved a one-month extension of the current emergency decree nationwide.

The Government Spokesman, Anucha Burapachaisri, said today the cabinet meeting had acknowledged that the emergency decree should be enforced across the country for another month, or until November 30, 2020. The meeting also approved the revocation of the state of severe emergency decree in Bangkok and related announcements made on October 22nd, 2020.

The Deputy Government Spokeswoman, Traisuree Taisaranakul, said the cabinet had also approved in principle guidelines for welcoming international visitors, who enter the country via cruise ships, under the Special Tourist Visa (STV) arrangement. People who are eligible for the STV include non-Thai nationals who intend to visit the country on cruise ships, as well as crew members from countries with a low or moderate-risk of COVID-19 infection, according to medical and public health information.

All travelers must comply with Thailand’s disease-control measures. They have to be quarantined for at least 14 days on the ship. During their stay in Thailand, they are required to have a health insurance policy for US$100,000 coverage of COVID-19 treatment as well as a Thai Health and Accident Insurance Policy with at least 40,000 baht in out-patient coverage and at least 400,000 baht’s in-patient coverage. Supporting documentation on docking fee payments must also be provided.

Non-Thai nationals arriving by yacht can apply for the STV at a fee of 2,000 baht. The visa will last for 90 days, and can be extended twice.
