The oil and gas can be negotiated or shared. Its not what China is in it for.

China and Philippines sign MoU for joint oil and gas exploration

Both countries’ governments have signed an agreement to carry out joint oil and gas development in the South China Sea

The agreement was signed during China President Xi Jinping’s visit to the Philippines, in addition to several other deals in multiple sectors.

China wants to treat the Sth China Sea like it's own Gulf of Mexico. You won't see Chinese naval flotillas & spyships there though, under 'Freedom of navigation' rules. Yet.

Diplomacy is not your strong point. Flip flopping shows a country is weak when it doesn't adhere to principles. It shows a country can be bought bribed or coerced. Duterte has no respect or credibility from anyone and shows his loyalty goes to the highest bidder. Countries that stand up for their rights will fare better in the long run than one who seeks to always appease the current bully.
One would have to wonder why you find that acceptable behaviour.

On the contrary. Diplomacy clearly isn't your strong point. What I described is normally what middle countries do.

    Mutilateralism is not flip flopping.

But you live inside the Anglo empire & inside one of its core members. You don't know anything but unilateralism.

You need to stop when you're down down down as you're making yourself looking even more dense than usual
