BANGKOK (NNT) - After JOB EXPO 2020 successfully found 240,000 placements for out of work Thais affected by the COVID-19 situation, the Ministry of Labor has decided to provide career training courses for both those re-entering the workforce and looking to work independently.


Director-General of the Department of Skills Development, Tawatch Benjatikul explained today that each course would take 3-8 months to complete and be divided between training at the Skills Development Institute and in internship programs at actual businesses to build experience. Each province is to have its own courses based on market needs. with training to range from motorcycle mechanic skills to CNC operator, computer design artist, welder, electrician, automation operator, hair stylist and Thai cooking. All courses will be free of charge with lodging to be provided to those unable to travel.


The project is targeted at new laborers who are not in the education system, the unemployed and members of the public looking for self-improvement and ready to rejoin the workforce.
