7 Thai tourists killed and 40 injured in road accident in Nakhon Ratchasima

At least seven Thai tourists were killed and 40 others injured, some seriously, when their chartered double-decker tour bus, travelling from the northeastern province of Roi-et, crashed into a trailer truck, loaded with tapioca roots, at an intersection in Muang district of Nakhon Ratchasima province Saturday morning.

One of the survivors alleged that the bus driver was speeding, scaring him and several other tourists on board to the extent that they dared not sleep.

At one point during the journey to Pattaya, he said that the bus driver appeared to fall asleep momentarily, prompting one tourist to suggest that he stop and rest for a while.

The driver declined, claiming that he was in a rush because he had to catch up with two other tour buses at Khao Hin Sorn in Kabin Buri district, said the unnamed survivor.

The driver of the tour bus allegedly failed to reduce the speed when approaching an intersection in Ban Chai Mongkol, just as the tapioca truck, travelling from Lop Buri province toward Nakhon Ratchasima, arrived at the same intersection from a different direction.

The bus collided with the trailer truck at full speed. The force of the impact heavily damaged the busís front section and it tipped onto its side. Several tourists were crushed to death.

Upon being released from jail, Thai men will generally do one of two things: 1. Join the local temple for a life of sweeping and sleeping, 2. Join the local bus service for a life of putting everyone else's life in danger and behaving like a complete twat.

me and the wife have had first hand experiance of a suicide driver.after visiting her relative's we booked [as allways a limo] to take us back to our hotel before our flight home.sat in the back i noticed he was slowing down when it was a clear road, then he came close to going into the back of a cement truck[this was 9am. if i hadnt grabbed him we would have gone under the truck.luckily we were close to a petrol station,so we told the driver we needed the toilet, then we gave him 500bht.and told him to go.
    35yrs.later we are still here.

Because these people are among the stupidest in creation and cognitively impaired verging on the imbecilic, the only solution is to fit all omnibuses in Thailand with a speed limiter reducing a maximum speed to 55 MPH/ 85 KPH.

I've long lost count of the number of times I've had to shout at drivers from HKT to Kata to get them to stop driving like a fucking maniac.

Fortunately in later years a friend's boyfriend would pick me up and drop me off and, being a copper, he never got any shit from the airport mafia.
