Thread: Pattaya burglars make off with Bt10 million in cash

Five thieves broke into a luxury house rented by a Chinese tourist in Pattaya at around 9pm on Monday (September 7) and made off with Bt10 million in cash.


Upon learning of the raid, police officers visited the Bt30-million house in Chonburi’s Bang Lamung district to speak to the victim.

The tourist said five men showed up, put a gun to his head and demanded he open the safe and hand over the cash. Though police have already spoken to the victim, the language barrier may make the investigation process slower.

Footage from security cameras has been retrieved, though police are puzzled as to how the thieves managed to enter and leave the luxury estate without being noticed.

The currency is not clearly specified, if Thai Baht then 100,000 notes. That's a couple of suitcases. Which do not fit in a standard safe. Just saying.

Of course, CNY or large denomination USD would reduce the volume.

The USD banknotes weigh about 0.8 grams each, some other currencies have bigger notes, maybe 1.0 gram.

Depends how big the safe is, 10 packs of a million would easily fit into a standard floor safe; that said, the worst place to put more than a decoy amount of cash is in a safe.

It continually amazes me that there are still posters on this board who actually think this country is not a fucked up pantomime of rancid hypocrisy, cronyism, deceit, larceny and fraud but has a rule of law in which justice for fish prevails.

Thailand became an attractive venue for money laundering chinks anxious to get their ill-gotten gains out of commie land when the preferred boltholes in London etc tightened up their banking laws. Also, most of the zero-dollar tours that proliferated here for five years until two years ago were operated by Chink shysters paying kickbacks to the usual influential people but squirrelled away their profits both here and in HK/KL. No surprise that some illiterate chink owns a 30 million baht gaff with £250,000 in cash in his wall safe.
