Tourism Authority of Thailand to Host Travel Fair for Expats

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will host the “Expat Travel Deal 2020” event in Bangkok to offer promotions on travel packages and services for expat residents. The tourism authority aims to encourage expats to travel more in order to boost domestic tourism.

The event will highlight deals from airlines, hotels, resorts, restaurants, spas, golf courses in the North, Central, South, East and Northeast. There will be demonstrations of local arts and crafts as well as tourism talks. Topics include “Traveling In Thailand During The Covid Era” and “The New Era Of Elephant Care Tourism”.

Expat attendees need to present their passports to receive special offers at the fair.

The event will take place from Sept 11-13 from 10am to 10pm at the Quartier Gallery, EmQuartier shopping mall.

“The New Era Of Elephant Care Tourism”.

When it comes to dreaming up obscure ways of fleecing foreigners, you have to admit, the thais are world leaders.

They could give up this TM30 nonsense. That might increase domestic mobility.

They have made it much easier by not requesting TM30 filing unless you change your registered address.

Is that official? good if true. The last time I was at Nongbualamphu Immigration was nearly 90 days ago, my next report is due, at which time they were being fussy about it.

As these rather repressive regulations were largely ignored and forgotten from the start.
    Locale dependent, of course.

Cool, now you can visit other parts of Thailand and pay ten times the local price to see shitty tourist traps.

Another TAT idea is the expat card, similar to the Elite card except it doesn't cost millions and gives nothing in return except a few promos you might wish to avoid, though on paper it's supposed to do away with dual pricing, so that farangs will end up paying same as Thai. To paraphrase the minister for something, dual pricing is unfair and makes no sense.

Smart guy, guaranteed to work, I think he found the secret to flooding Thailand with tourists.
