Triumph factory sacks workers without notice

Workers at a Triumph factory in Nakhon Sawan came to work on Friday (July 31) to find a sign saying that all 800 of them had lost their jobs and that the factory will be closed for three months.

The company had fired more than 2,000 workers earlier in the year due to the negative effects of Covid-19.

The recently sacked workers marched to the Nakhon Sawan Provincial Labour Office for help, but officials asked them to file a complaint letter first.

Triumph not guilty on this one, looks like a Thai company - BFT owned by a Malaysian did the dirty deed.

Poor show when workers are treated in such a shabby way.

^ seems to be the new way now, hearing people in UK getting furloughed and then being told there contracts are changing, British airways I believe are screwing there employers with this.

    As are many other companies.

There is a world of difference between telling employers that their contracts are changing, and overnight locking doors & gates and placing a 'you're fired' sign on the front gate.

The airline industry is in total chaos with profits doomed for years.

BA have rightly told their staff that some of them have to be let go. They told those that remained that they can refuse to take reduced pay and benefits and lose their jobs, or agree and keep them.

Do you honestly expect them to have to pay thousands of staff to do nothing?

    You moron.

You do realise the Furlough scheme continues until October?

here's something from a Govt inquiry back in June

The transport select committee’s inquiry into the impact of the pandemic on the aviation sector has issued a harsh verdict against the airline, calling its attitude towards personnel a “national disgrace”.

Committee accuses BA of ‘calculated’ bid to shed staff during crisis | News | Flight Global

Oh you fucking idiot, that's from June.

The pilots have already agreed a deal.

The only cabin crew holdouts are the old harpies and gays earning 60k+ from the Concorde days who don't realise that is a nonsensical salary to pay someone to serve tea and biscuits and point where the big signs saying "Exit" are, especially when the competition pays a third of that and still has no trouble hiring qualified staff.

It's like the twats from Icelandair, going on strike when there are 3,000 unemployed Wow employees who would give a kidney to get a job at the moment. (NB: They caved too).

And in both cases, the shareholders are not going to pump money in to prop up the airlines if they are squandering money on staff they don't need - which threatens every job in the company, and all the other companies that service it.

On a more serious note, would 31st have been payday? Does it mean they all went unpaid?

So what is a factory supposed to do? Print money out of thin air? It's not a US government.

Plan ahead on things like payroll and cash flow, and if things are looking dire put a redudancy plan into place.

Failing that, give notice on closing the factory.

Or is your name Klondyke also?

Unfortunately not all companies are that well managed. I remember when New zealand airlines bought out Ansett airlines and when Ansett went down the toilet, NZ Airlines left it to the Australian public to pay out the Ansett employees benefits.
