I call it a reply to a TD members request. Which I knew would generate non answers from our TD "triggered easily" but factually lacking posters. Which as illustrated has occurred.

If you care to question the topic under discussion in this thread, lay your evidence before the TD "Judge and Jury"

    "
According to the party's constitution, the party's Central Committee elects the Politburo Standing Committee.

In practice, however, this is only a formality. The method by which membership is determined has evolved over time.

During the Mao Zedong era, Mao himself selected and expelled members, while during the Deng Xiaoping era consultations among party elders on the Central Advisory Commission determined membership.

Since the 1990s, Politburo membership has been determined through deliberations and straw polls by incumbent and retired members of both the Politburo and the Standing Committee.[4][5]"

It appears to be similar to the UK method:

The citizens select/vote for, their local political representative. The political party "selects/vote for" it's leader. The political party selects/votes for it's leader and other ministers. The party leader fires/accepts their resignation, any he what's rid of and appoints their replacements.

ameristan also, (more knowledgeable ameristanis may expand if they wish ):

The citizens select their local political representative. The political party selects it's leader. The leader selects his "ministers".

    Thailand, appears similar.

I am assuming your own "home" country, NZ? or Germany?, have similar procedures.
My home country has elections where the general public go and vote for the party of their choice.
Despite what you've been led to believe I've been in China a long time and have seen not one shred of evidence of anyone 'voting'.
I imagine from the wording there that a few local commie party members 'select' one from among themselves at a monthly local district party meeting, who represents that goup at the next level up where THEY select one from among themselves to represent them at the next level up and so on.
The general population doesn't get a vote and the only people the chosen ones are interested in pleasing are the people above in 'the party'.
Notice my use of the term 'party'.
It's not much of an election when bejing chooses two people for the HKers to choose from is it.
    Plank.

Seems to be a world wide phenomena.

Do you have any examples where it is not the generally held opinion?

Possibly some allegedly "contented citizens" counties, Russia and China as measured by deliverables may be exceptions.

The Americas, Europe .... seem to pretty pissed of with their "elected" governments judging by press reports.

So, wondering why so many turmoils in the world? Perhaps that whatever one party do is always good and whatever the other party do is always bad? (Why not to have just one party only - only the good one?)

In our democracy the parties are there to represent the different interests and aspirations of the people, at least in principle. Theoretically a bottom up representation. The CCP is a total opposite with the people supporting the interest of the party. A sort of Orwellian 1984 if you like or top down representation.
How they have the cheek to call themselves "The peoples republic" when they are anything but.
The principle of self determination is non existent in these totalitarian regimes. Taiwan is an obvious case in point.

I've never seen any voters in China either, but then I have only visited and always had busy schedules organised by our Chines staff. In addition politics were not discussed.
