Elderly people will be able book units later this year in the Senior Complex being developed by the Treasury Department with Ramathibodi Hospital in Bang Phli district of Samut Prakan province, the department said.

Units will be priced at not more than Bt1.9 million, with a 30-year lease term.


Director-general Yuttana Yimgarund said that by the end of this year the department will allow interested seniors to book accommodation in the fully-integrated residence for the elderly over a total area of 72 rai.


“We first planned to open for reservation around 2022, but now we have accelerated the project. It will open for reservation later this year and construction work will begin next year. We will take loans to fund construction. Government banks KTB, Government Savings Bank and the Bank of Thailand have offered us loans. The total construction cost should be around Bt3 billion," said Yuttana


The project will be divided into three main zones. The first zone will be the Ramathibodi Hospital constructed over approximately 32 rai of land, the second zone will be the residence of the elderly in an area of approximately 20 rai and lastly the accommodation for elderly patients.


The department will construct some 900 units in the first phase, each unit measuring 35 square metres, priced at around Bt1.8 million to Bt1.9 million for long-term hire purchase of 30 years or longer. The accommodation will provide space for various recreational activities and resting places as well.

Applicants must be aged 55 and above in the middle-income person range. There will be a maintenance charge to take care of the facilities and various recreational activities, which do not include medical expenses and meals.
