Pick-up truck mows down rescuers who were helping another victim

Rescue officials were mowed down by a black pick-up truck while they were trying to resuscitate an accident victim on the street.

At 9.30pm on Thursday (July 9), Ruam Katanyu Foundation in Lopburi province were informed of a motorcycle accident in Ban Mi district.

The site of the accident was close to the office of Sawang Ariyo, another rescue agency, so officials from both agencies responded to the situation and were working on trying to resuscitate the man.

Then suddenly a black pickup truck showed up to mow down six rescue officials and the injured person.

The victims were immediately taken to hospital, but four succumbed to their injuries, including one Ruam Katanyu official, two Sawang Ariyo staff, one of whom was pregnant, as well as the man injured in the motorcycle accident. The pickup driver has been arrested and is being investigated.

these rescue foundations put their lives at risk every day and this is how people repay them, with it happening regular,
hope he gets 20yrs as they dont use the ROPE.
always first to respond, its time to stop all traffic both ways when the police arrive.

It's no freak accident when you mow through people on what should be a clear road, you're either high or intended to kill them.

Alternatively it could have been on a blind, unlit bend with absolutely no warning of an obstacle ahead.

This is Thailand we are talking about.

Even so, someone would be posted on approach waving a plastic bag. Well, when there were plastic bags, maybe the supermarkets could save lives if they weren't so stingy.

It was more than likely a tree branch laid on the road and the driver swerved to miss it, thus hitting the rescue workers.

their first thought is to save lives, now its theirs at risk.nobody slows down for any accident,if there are bodies in the road they either drive round them or over them.
these imbecile drivers wouldnt stop for anyone laying injured, but if they want a piss thats different.

I once had to push the wife's scooter to a repair shop.

No big deal. It was about a kilometre.

On the way five or six people in pick ups stopped to offer help.

One lady was insistent that the two of us could lift the machine into the back of her pick up.

I had to explain four or five times that pushing it for 500 meters was easier. .

Accidents happen and yes, the numbers show there are a lot of idiot drivers in Thailand who take stupidly unjustified risks.

But you must seriously live at the wrong end of the wrong town, headhunter.

Completely the opposite from my experience and I've even seen further accidents caused from people slowing / stopping and rubbernecking.

The nation's car culture will not change for a long time.

They need to take their own dedicated traffic controller out with them.

Didn't these "rescue foundations" have a shoot-out in Bangkok a while back? Over territory? From which they earn good money getting patients to preferred hospitals alive?

And don't some of them nick the money out of your wallet ? Or is that the bystanders, before the paramedics arrive ?

Many people, esp those prone not to know too mutt about the mechanics of driving, don't realise that the vehicle steers in the direction you are looking; which is why rubberneckers are a danger close to the scene of an accident.

In my days of teaching youngsters to ride bike/mosai, I placed small obstacles in their way and taught them to instinctively look to the side of the obstacle and that's where the front wheel will aim for; then put soft obstacles in their path and told them to look directly at but try to avoid them, which they mostly did but quickly learned it's easier to look to one side or other of stones and potholes. Quick tip, could save a life sometime.

    Problem in Denmark too
A 'kiggekø', 'looking queue' is crazy, when normal speed is 110-130 km/h.

    Deathporn can get you killed

A phenomenon exploding with emergence of the mobile phone

Posting such on Social Media can land you in jail, I think

Read about a , I think, policeman in Germany, who had 'die Schnauze voll, from these filming degenerates, and invited some over to film and say hello to a traffic victim.

Firstly they accepted, but they had second thoughts, when he really pushed them to come nearer and have some close ups.

I would like to shake his hand

I thought the first rule of first aid was to remove from source of danger. Clearly they failed to achieve this and endangered his and their lives. If victim can't be moved then they should have stopped the traffic with warning at a distance appropriate to normal traffic speed.

People don't stop in Thailand because they fear they'll fall victim to police corruption.
