High stakes in a Himalayan hotspot

In concert with Chitty's news item ... https://teakdoor.com/thailand-and-as...se-forces.html this is a reveal more into the steadfast way China is adopting "salami slicing, a tactic used to covertly snatch disputed lands, sliver by territorial sliver".

Make no mistake, this wasn't an accidental engagement between the Chinese and Indian troops.

China actually built a 1:500 scale model to war game this hot spot.

    News item below ...

    ---

That Beijing would go to such lengths to study the topography of the region underlines a determination to hold on to — and in some cases, win back — disputed territories along its vast and inhospitable frontier with India.

And that’s consistent with today’s aggressive foreign policy stance dubbed “Wolf Warrior” diplomacy — named after a popular Chinese movie franchise featuring a fictional crack special forces unit.

We cannot lose even one inch of the territory left behind by our ancestors,” Chinese President Xi Jinping told the then US Defence Secretary James Mattis in 2018.

    ---

It's an impressive research document, lot's of visuals not lot's of Bla Bla.

Interesting piece. Of the many fights that China is picking this one seems to have the most potential to escalate into armed conflict.

And I think it is no coincidence that china is pushing hard everywhere at the moment (this, hong kong etc) as America is basically AWOL.

Yes...for instance, Daleks are more or less rational.

Haven't you seen where The Doctor opened one ? Inside is either a rice pudding-like mess, or a pathetic, squirming squidlike creature.

That's a closer description than "rational".
