MSI CEO Charles Chiang dies after falling from building, aged 56

Head of a company with $4Bn in revenues jumps off a roof to his death. I wonder what's gone on there?

The CEO of leading Taiwanese hardware manufacturer Micro Star International (MSI), Charles Chiang, has died at age 56. As confirmed by local media, the 56-year-old fell from the seventh floor of one of the company’s Taiwanese offices. At the time of writing, no other details have been confirmed.

Mr. Chiang took over as head of the internationally known manufacturer in 2019. He had been at the company for over 20 years prior to taking on the top job.

MSI is a worldwide brand, and it sponsors many big events and players in the gaming community. Since 1986, it has produced screens, gaming peripherals, and computer hardware like laptops, graphics cards, or motherboards. In recent years, it has also partnered with leading esports teams, such as Cloud 9 and Fnatic. It has even run its own tournaments in a range of games.

“Mr. Chiang was a respected leader in the MSI family, and helped pave the way for the brand’s success. We are all deeply saddened by the news, and are mourning the loss of Mr. Chiang. He will be deeply missed by the entire team,” an MSI spokesperson told tech news website Tom’s Hardware in a statement.

Local outlet ETToday reported that security camera footage captured Mr. Chiang before his death. Cameras saw him walking up to the seventh floor of the building, alone. Shortly afterward, at about 2:00 p.m. local time, security guards heard a crash in the car park. Upon investigating, they found Mr. Chiang lying in the car park. An ambulance was called, but the MSI CEO sadly passed away after arriving at the hospital.

Perhaps not so successful as the remaining board members would have the public believe...
