Street Brawl Erupts During Search For Missing Girlfriend

In the early hours of yesterday morning, 17th June 2020, police were called to a chaotic street brawl in the Ban Tho area of Huay Kaew, Chiang Mai.

The fight broke out between a group of 20 young men aged between 17-18 years old after 2-3 youths approached another group and one boy enquired about his missing girlfriend.

The larger group said they did not know the young lady but the girl’s boyfriend was not happy with their response. Local residents witnessed the commotion and called Chang Phueak Police Station.

Officers arrived at the street quickly and managed to subdue the young men who were said to be intoxicated. No arrests were made but all the parents were notified, their details were recorded and they received a warning from officers at the scene. Luckily, nobody sustained any serious injuries.

This comes less than 48 hours after the government lifted the curfew across Thailand.

No, that's reserved for those who marry some bargirl and then go and live near the family in some village in the arse end of nowhere. This invariably leads to feelings of isolation and the desperate need to seek attention on internet forums by attempting to be controversial.

Not having many conversations with you I know nothing of your postings, present location or past history. So you may find this useful or a waste of time reading.

A rural Thai "town" where people are welcoming, where they include the lone felang in their lives, where children can ride their bikes and run the streets without fear, where provincial leaders, town leaders, police captains, Head monks, shop keepers, market stall owners, my wife's family members and her many relatives along with their children all take moments of their lives to stop and "chat"/share a beer ....

Where nobody knows your name, it's not relevant, but they know and enjoy the company of me, the person.

It's my true Thailand. I live it every day. Life is what you make of it. I hope you enjoy your days so well, wherever you are.

Only lived in a bedsit for 1 month upon arriving at uni, soon moved on to a shared "back to back" house. Which filled with local, legal aged school girls, at the weekends. All eager to earn their bed by cleaning, shopping, cooking and .... for us. Sometimes with very sparse clothing. Great times.

My Thai "bed sit", has a "back garden" with Durian, Coffee and Cacao trees and various vegetables in my wife's corner, growing happily, does yours?

But, yep spot on location wise, it's a days hike over the "mountains" and another day to the neearest town.

Not quite the Alps but jungle covered, lethal wild animal infested, rifle toting soldiers, steep sided enough for me. No immigration posts to show ones passport. A mine detector is suggested as a necessity by some.

Or 45 minuted to a secluded sandy Thai beach where the food is Thai, the water crystal clear, clean bungalows available to stay a night or two, local kids playing happily in a unusual setting for most of them and a sunset to take your breath away.

You can only dream of such a welcoming place to hang you hat.

Or maybe not, describe/illustrate your location, if you dare. A high rise condo, which when you moved in had a view of a litter strewn, plastic covered "restauranted" beach, now of course blocked by more view blocking condos or have you a western style town house and a 5 minute drive to access the the necessary supermarket where you can buy your imported liquor and foodstuff?

I have no idea. maybe your in rural Mississippi, a sandpit compound, a diesel smelling production rig, your Scottish castle ....

When I utilise the word "wife" I use the UK/Thai legal term.

My style of "marriage" may not be the same as all but we have a good, fruitful and honest relationship. I hope your relationship with your partner is equally fulfilling.
