Police: Mother killed daughter for land

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: Police assured they had enough evidence to prove a mother had killed her daughter for the latter's land plot.

Pol Col Somporn Prisawanit, chief of the Bang Khan station, said on Thursday that police had enough evidence to believe that Prateep Jindawong, 54, used a screwdriver to murder her 29-year-old biological daughter Chonthira Jindawong in April. Police already charged her with premeditated murder and the suspect was released on bail of 200,000 baht after her arrest on Tuesday.

Chonthira was killed at their home in Moo 3 village of tambon Ban Lam Nao in Bang Khan district on April 11. The mother told police that a robber had broken into the house and killed her daughter.

Pol Col Somporn said Mrs Prateep had a quarrel with her daughter because she wanted her to sell a 10-rai oil palm plantation that her husband had given to the daughter, who did not want to sell it.

The station chief dismissed Mrs Prateep's allegation that the daughter was killed while she was home alone since she and her husband had gone out to tap latex.

The murder happened when the victim was with the mother and the screwdriver used in the murder was a tool in the household, Pol Col Somporn said.

A broken window, allegedly claimed to be the access of a robber, was actually forced opened from the inside of the elevated house. The window was three metres from the ground on the outside, he said.

Objects close to the window also did not fall. If the window had been broken by an outsider, some of the objects should have fallen, Pol Col Somporn said.

Not the brightest murderer, but tbf she probably started constructing her alibi when she was questioned.
