Thread: Thai students in Saudi Arabia return today

SONGKHLA (NNT) - Thai nationals abroad continue to return to Thailand on repatriation flights and across land borders. Today, 39 Thai nationals returned from Saudi Arabia via Malaysia, entering Thailand at the Songkhla border; they are now subject to a compulsory 14-day period of quarantine.


The 39 returnees include 37 Saudi Arabian government scholarship students, one mother, and a 14-month infant. Among them, three are from Songkhla, three from Satun, 12 from Pattani, six from Narathiwat, four from Yala, two from Nakhon Si Thammrat, one from Phattalung, one from Chiang Mai, one from Phang Nga, one from Trat, four from Bangkok, and one from Nonthaburi. They were screened and examined by health officials upon arrival and sent for quarantine.


Of the group, returnees who are residents of Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, and Satun will be quarantined in their province of residence, while other returnees are being quarantined at M SOHO Hotel in Songkhla. They will be separated from other returnees from Malaysia, as Saudi Arabia has a higher number of COVID-19 cases.


Three returnees have been declared Patients Under Investigation (PUI), and have been sent for testing at Somdet Phraborom Rachineenat Hospital in Songkhla. They will be allowed to join others in quarantine if they test negative.


45 persons were registered to return from Saudi Arabia today. However only 39 were allowed to return as six of them tested positive to COVID-19 before departure.
