Company owners banned from closing down business during emergency

Company owners are prohibited from shutting down their business while the emergency decree is in force, while staff are banned from going on strike, a Labour Ministry announcement published in the Royal Gazette website said.

The announcement is effective from May 8. It also ordered those owners who had closed their business before the announcement was published, to reopen their business. Likewise, employees who had struck work previously were ordered to return to work.

The announcement enjoined both employers and employees to work strictly in line with the Labour Relations Act. Disputes on labour issues will be adjudged by the labour relations committee.

Does this mean bars/restaurants/hotels etc that closed under lockdown rules are now legally obliged to reopen, while doing so leaves the owners liable to arrest for breaching lockdown rules?

    I think breakfast first.

So, a company that ceases trading because it is technically bankrupt and cannot afford to pay its staff, its overheads and suppliers must continue to incur debts that will not be repaid including outstanding loans?

This country becomes more insane by the day, it seems.
