Australian Bodybuilding Champ Arrested for Working Illegally

An Australian bodybuilding champ has been arrested in Pattaya for possession of performance-enhancing hormones and working illegally in Thailand. Rohan Jeffrey Reid, 47, was arrested at a well-known South Pattaya gym.

Police said Reid was teaching a fitness course to a foreign couple without a work permit at the time of his arrest.

Narcotics Control Officers subsequently searched his room at a Pattaya hotel where they recovered a small amount of human growth hormone.

According to the Pattaya News, Police found no evidence he was selling the hormones and no illegal drugs were found.

The Australian bodybuilding champion was charged with working illegally for running a business called “Muscle Camp.” He brought foreigners to Thailand to learn bodybuilding. Police said he’d been running the bodybuilding business for several years.

Police also alleged the Bodybuilding champion was a member of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang in Australia. However there has been no mention of him in Australia in connection with bikers or any illegal activity.

Reid was taken to The Pattaya City Police Station to face legal proceedings regarding the charges. If convicted he will face a fine, deportation and blacklisting from the Kingdom of Thailand.

after a few nights in jail on the business end of somchais shvantz, muscle cramp might be a more appropriate term.

    Stupid???

He's been under the radar here for several years running his own tour business while on a succession of tourist visas and presumably his revenue is untaxed and overheads minimal save for the kickback to the Thai owned "well known" South Pattaya gym.

There is a vast reservoir of farang living in Thailand six months of the year while working illegally at some enterprise or other.

For most it's a pretty good billet.

    i would say yes.

its his stupidity and selfishness that makes the authorities suspect every foreigner as being in some way criminally inclined and therefore under suspicion at all times.

hence the increasingly onerous visa and monitoring requirements we are obliged to abide by.

of course the ease with which the criminally inclined can turn the unscrupulous authorities with graft, bribery and nepotism just adds layer upon layer to the strata of corruption that forms the bedrock of this awful society.

Come off it Tax, the Thai Establishment don't need any excuse to maximise profits or use xenophobia as a pretext for some anti-farang measure bolstering their godawful jingoism and preposterous sense of national conceit which they continually sell to their lumpen peasantry.

Get a grip, man. You're still getting your eye in after that innings in Yorkistan.
