Husband Arrested for Firing Gun to Scare his Wife at Shopping Mall

A Thai man has been arrested for allegedly firing a gun on the ground floor of Central Plaza shopping mall in central Thailand. Police responded immediately to the shooting scene and reported no injuries.

Pol General Krisana Pattanacharoen, said the 41 year old suspect reportedly fired six shots while he was on the ground floor. “The mall’s security guards stopped the man and held him in custody until police arrived, he said.

Meanwhile, Central Pattana Co Ltd (CPN), operator of Central Plaza shopping mall, issued a statement that after the suspect was arrested with no one injured, the mall staff cleared the area and the situation had returned to normal.

“The incident was a fight between a married couple in the shopping mall,” CPN said in a statement.

“The suspect was the husband of a sales staffer in the mall. He reportedly fired the gun in the air to intimidate his wife. After security guards were alerted to the firing, they closed down the area. Detaining the suspect near the information counter while waiting for police to arrive. The whole operation took about 10 minutes.”

CPN also added that they were employing extra security measures by increasing security guards. They were also adding metal detectors to check mall visitors and their belongings at all entrances.

I've lost count of the times I've fired a gun in a shopping mall when having a dust up with the missus. Some people are so edgy these days.

    said the 41 year old
you would think, that having reached the age of 41, he would have learnt how to control his anger at least to the point where shooting a gun in a crowded shopping centre was out of the question.

but no. this is thailand. land of the ego driven machismo chickenhead.

kudos to the guards, the lowest paid staff in the country, abused wherever they work, yet in this case showing bravery abd responsibility way beyond their pay grade.

i hope the mall management reward them.
but we all know they wont.

^Just letting everyone know he's important, virile, and not to be trifled with..

Hopefully, with all the recent guns-shopping mall strife Thailand has endured lately, this wretched little fart will be offed asap.

As if no such stupid incidents "of the ego driven machismo" have ever happened in other (a bit) more (almost) educated countries?

    Or if you're a really strong man, a plane's tyres :

After the 1997 incident involving the Royal Air Cambodge plane, Teng Bunma admitted to shooting the Boeing 737’s tire over what he called the airline’s poor service. Then president of the Chamber of Commerce, Teng Bun[at]ma said the staff was rude after his luggage was lost and offered insufficient compensation.“I lost my temper and control and had to shoot one of the plane’s tires. I wanted to shoot more of them to make sure that all [the tires] were flat, but there were a lot of passengers surrounding the plane,” he said at the time.

Without doubt, right across the entire social spectrum from gormless peasant to uncivil servant mandarin, the Thai are the most childish, petulant, unthinking, reckless self-absorbed people on the planet.

Their sheer capacity for infinite fuckwittery is without par.

    Truly, amazing Thailand.

I recall a somewhat unnerving experience in Big C, OnNut I think it was, when I was queuing for the ATM where a large line had built up, no doubt caused by the vacuous bimbette at the head of it who was evidently taking the opportunity to conduct a multiplicity of transactions with her entire social network that would challenge a bank clearing house settling up on a Friday. The Thai in front of me, a middle aged bloke, was fiddling about pulling pieces of paper out of his pocket and examining them but in the course of his preoccupation he had managed to drop one of his bank cards on the ground. I picked it up and tried to gain his attention with a khor tot or two but the ambient noise level was too loud and he was in another place where Thai go when they stare into the middle distance waiting. In the end I tapped him on the shoulder to gain his attention. He whirled round as if someone had fiddled with his arse and on seeing me his eyes narrowed into slits, nostrils flared and teeth were bared. For a moment I thought the fucker was going to strike me. I held up his card and, pointing to the floor, I handed it back to him. He simply gawped at me as his enfeebled mind swapped cogs trying to compute what had just happened when it eventually dawned on the prick what he had done and thanks were eventually proffered.

The point was, and I learned a valuable lesson here, Thai, if caught unawares, are hard wired to defcon 3 defensive violence and it can be their default setting, particularly within an urban environment which in truth is still, in evolutionary terms, a challenge for the little fuckers.

The sheer fury in the man's eyes was a sight to behold not least because it was just so damned inappropriate.

I now do what they do and ignore everything not in my own little bubble.

The wingman went through her basic training with enthusiasm and consequently passed out successfully as a de-Thaied member of the squadron although I do have to concede there are moments when I think refresher courses may be required.

SeekingAss, the 'bubble' is a defense mechanism, and if you stay there too long, living in your own 'defensive' bubble is going to make you turn into a Thai, and the cultural shock when you return to western civilization will be brutal

the bubble thing is a reality because the environment is hostile, noisy, busy, and full of hot air, it's a big distraction that put the brain on overdrive and eventually burn you out,

I suspect most Thais are in burnout stage, and find ways to cope with it

it wasn't always like that, it used to be relax and easy going, but the strong growth environment has turn Thailand into a giant Factory warehouse, and it feels like you are working in one with the tough hours when you reside in Thailand

Thailand is a open-air mine, and Thai are the mine workers, and so are the expats
