    Thailand officially enters summer

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of summer storms in upper Thailand from March 3-5, 2019. Thailand has now officially entered summer.

Meteorological Department Director General Somsak Khaosuwan confirmed today that Thailand had entered summer on February 29, 2020, with the temperature rising almost everywhere in Thailand and continuously hot weather during the day. It is expected that summer this year will end in mid-May 2020.

The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning regarding summer storms in northern Thailand from March 3-5, 2019. There will be thunderstorms, strong winds, hail and lightning in some areas. The northeastern and eastern regions will be affected from March 3-4, 2020, while the lower northern, central and eastern regions including Bangkok and its vicinity will also begin to be affected.

With the amount of water left, I would think people oop North would probably welcome a few good thunderstorms as long as there is rain involved.

^ indeed, a couple of drenches would be welcome here, they wouldn't fill up water reserves though but will ease the strain in the fields. And as a bonus would sort most of the forest fires and clean the air.

Bring on the storms! last rain we had was 15 Sept, weather been good though - until yesterday - which was the hottest day so far this year though still cool this morning, I live beside a reservoir, still plenty of water in it - thankfully.

The selfish Thais, and farang, here are pumping ground water out so much that no matter how much it'll rain over the coming months it ain't going to be replaced. It's making the future more glum looking than it currently is. A farang here has just been cajoled into doing Durian farming by his missus. Durians need lots of water. So he gets people in top clear the land and excavate a pond/dam. It's gonna take time for the dam to fill up. That is if it's built on a clay base. Anyways as an extra he's had a bore hole put it. They hit water at 95m +. So he buys a pump. The pump works for a matter of minutes and cuts out. He's stumped as to why and asks me for help. It's plainly obvious that the pump he's using is pumping faster than the water table can replenish it's loss. The guys fooked in that he never made sure he had the water in the first place. Another one bites the dust.

I'll rephrase, it'll take a few decades before the Thais and others (busy abstracting themselves into oblivion) learn the lessons from California.
