Yes but that might be outsourced to certified or appvd locations or shops. GM will not keep service centers open or if they do it will be in select locations. If you have a GM product you will likely receive a notification on where you can have the vehicle serviced or repaired.

Completely true. And these total fucking retards that think fossil fuels will simply stopped being produced shortly, they really should educate themselves first on what would also disappear from the planet without them (besides combustion engines) and ask themselves how they'll survive without it.

I might debate that with you a little Mr Norton.

I own a CG series 2 Captiva and a 2015 Cruize, both I thought were produced from (the Captiva 2006 to 2018) by GM Korea, previously known as Daewoo.

Yep. The Duramax engine platform is Isuzu. GM and Isuzu collaborated on the Duramax engine back in 2000. The US only saw the 6.6liter V8 option that was an outstanding engine and were initially released in the C or K 3500 trucks for heavy towing. Later in 2001 they were available in all C or K 2500HD platforms at a pretty steep optioned price. I had a 2001 K3500 4x4 Dually truck with the Duramax Engine and Allison automatic transmission. I routinely towed my loaded 15,000 lb race car trailer all over the Pacific northwest going to racing events. I racked up nearly 300,000 miles on the truck with only 1 injector failure which GM replaced at no charge even out of warranty. Bosch had a design issue early on with the injector mechanism.

GM reoriented its activities toward shitty cars years ago, the only decent vehicle they sell here is indeed the Colorado pick up, but the few owners I know weren't satisfied by fuel consumption (BTW Isuzu pick-up trucks owners seem to have the same complaint).
GM has already left the European market and India in 2017...hope for them they remain successful in US market.

GM does very well in the US. Their Suburban, Yukon and the Silverado truck line sustain themselves well. I would love to have a Chevrolet ZR2 truck here. It's the Ford Raptor equivalent and comes with some really trick off road components.

Sure is. Name and branding also important.

GM introduced a top selling US market car called Chevrolet Nova into Spanish speaking countries. Terrible sales until the name was changed from Nova to Caribe. Sales took off.

No va in Spanish, No go.

I remember that Norton. Funny as Hell.

I raced a 67 Nova SS L79 327/350hp car. Fast, light weight street car. Of course back then tires were poly glass bias ply tires and you could burn them right off the wheels
Back when street racing was fun stuff.

Might be some questions raised too about a car known as Ho-Den.

    Speaking of Electric Cars ...

Bill Gates bought himself a Porsche over a Tesla — and Elon Musk just called him ‘underwhelming’

    Key Points

    • Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates recently revealed he bought an all-electric Porsche Taycan, rather than a Tesla.
    • Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded by saying his “conversations with Gates have been underwhelming.”
    • It’s not Musk’s first spat with a tech billionaire — he also questioned the extent of Mark Zuckerberg’s knowledge of AI.

The Porsche Taycan offers much higher performance “bang for the buck” compared to its gas-powered Panamera sedan sibling. This applies across the board — the new Taycan 4s variant provides faster acceleration than the Panamera GTS whilst being 20% less expensive, and the Turbo and Turbo S variants significantly outperform their more expensive Panamera siblings. Surely some mistake by Porsche?

I wonder what effect (if any) this is going to have on the classics market also.

Probably a quick bump I'd imagine.

In any case it was clear to me GM's rapid push to expand into Asia was ill thought out and bound to fail over time.

Ford has done much better but Japanese still the masters of doing it right in Automotive and Electronics.

As the taxpayer subsidies ran out, so did Ho-Den.

You are absolutely right. While the market in SE Asia demands mid size trucks, the market was already owned by Toyota and Isuzu and their reliability and factory service is top notch.

One big gripe always heard here in Thailand is that Chevrolet and Ford service is terrible. Quite frankly it is bad in the US as well. Toyota,/Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti, Benz all lead the way.

Yeah but that's the GT and production race, far less known and prestigious than the Bathurst 1000.

In fact I'm not even sure Holden have ever competed have they?

Even the Bathurst 1000 has had a fairly eclectic list of entrants and winners. Everything from Minis which dominated (finishing pos. 1 - 9 in '66) to legendary fire-breathing Nissans that were effectively banned for being a bit too good.

In its pre-Bathurst iteration it was even won by a Vauxhall of all things.
